USJ initially hired several people over the age of 60 on a trial basis in mid-October to work at restaurants and in security. Approximately 400 of the park's more than 10,000 staff members are currently over 60, but most were hired before crossing that threshold age. [...] The park plans to continue hiring seniors through job fairs and advertisements on social media and will consider working with local employment services offices moving forward. USJ is scheduled to open a new area this spring based on the Donkey Kong video game series from Nintendo, which the park expects to further boost visitor numbers. At the same time, with the 2025 Osaka World Expo coming up, competition to acquire workers in the region is set to intensify. USJ expects the number of staff members between the ages of 60 and 70 to double to around 800 by 2025.
