kyoto and koyasan?

I'm planning to travel to japan in about a year
is kyoto a nice place to stop for a while?
and how about koyasan?

Because a question is vague, I am not understanding the meaning of the question.
Kyoto is the sightseeing spot which is the most famous in Japan.
But if you are not interested in the Japanese culture and history,
Kyoto may be a city without the value to go.
