Kishi Nobuo, the younger brother of former PM Abe and a grandson of former PM Kishi Nobusuke, will soon resign from his lower house parliamentary seat for health reasons. Kishi has assisted PM Kishida since he stepped down as defence minister in August 2022. True to Japan's political dynasticism, Kishi hopes to have his eldest son, Nobuchiyo, who currently serves as one of his secretaries, take over his electoral district in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Kishi suffers from an undisclosed condition that seems to be rapidly deteriorating. While using crutches at the beginning of last year, he was seen in a wheelchair as of spring 2022. He is also involved in the Unification Church scandal.

The photo below shows the Abe/Kishi family celebrating Abe Yōko's 94th birthday in June 2022: around the table, l-r, Abe Yōko, Nobuo's wife, Abe Akie, Shinzō, his elder brother Hironobu, CEO of Mitsubishi Shoji Packaging, and Kishi Nobuo and standing, holding a dachshund, Nobuchiyo, Nobuo's elder son, who had previously worked for Fuji TV, and his younger brother Tomohiro, currently with Mitsui Fudosan.
