Kana かな

Hola people, or maybe I should say こんにちは >.< Umm, I think there was an existing thread like this before, but I'm going to make another one...!

Anyway, all you have to do is take a picture/scan a peice of paper with written hiragana & katakana on it.

-You don't have to write the ones with nigori or handaku, or the combination characters.
-Write in both hiragana & katakana.
-Yeah... >.<

So, please, not native Japanese show us yours, and native Japanese show us yours, so we can compare.

The reason I wanted to do this is because I bought a kana learning book today, so I could learn the rest of katakana (and to remember the four hiragana I would have trouble with [ふ、ぬ、ね、め]).

Umm, so post your kana!!!

Right now, it's 1:55 am where I live, so I can't scan my thing now (I actually didn't make it yet, but if I did, I wouldn't be able to scan it.) Maybe in a while if I make it today, I think about just take a picture of it!!

I can't wait to see what all of your kana looks like!

interesting! really.. now i wait for more. recently i got postcard from a friend and I couldn't read his handwriting... i took me so much time and then to translate
it is easy to read kana once you know it, but handwriting's can be so hard to read.

p.s. i don't have scanner, so

And I believe after berugijin, you'd want to use de instead of to.

Keep in mind I am left handed so writing my kana will prove a bit different in style and angles.

Though as I said you may of meant Konnichiha, If so I apologise:
(I did some research, the English thingy (though not acctual english) seems to be Konnichiha, though the Romaji is Konnchiwa, Take a look though the site it self has nothing to do with Japanese the first line may sort some stuff out)

Konnichiwa - こんにちわ

The "proper" spelling is こんにちは, the は being the topic marker wa. It's written は do to historical sound shifts. The phrase is presumably the beginning of a sentence like こんにちはいかがいっていますか ("how is today going for you?" (hope the Japanese is at least close to natural...)).

That said, the こんにちわ spelling is gaining ground recently and is used quite commonly on the internet, so really either way is fine, but こんにちは still looks more educated, professional, etc.

I wouldn't say that either way is fine, but it's certainly true that one does see it nowadays.

Speaking of which, the character at the end of neko_shiroi's image looks like a cross between わ and お, when it should be は, as just discussed.

Well, either is fine given the right circumstances. こんにちわ may even be better in some circles. But if you're writing a formal letter or something you should definitely use こんにちは.

Here's my comments(Sorry for the late response...):

You guys all write so well, most of them are carefully written. They all look beautiful, (much better than my hand writting) and only a few of them may need just a little bit more attention.

@kevin (homerduff),
Your 'ン' looks like a bit 'ソ'(so) to me, and 17 years old shoud be written じゅうななさい' but other than that, it looks great!

@Tomii
Great work, Tomii! Beautiful. Just one thing, your 'ナ' may look a bit like '＋'(plus), but you did very good.

@rudel
You look like a very advanced learner, and your handwriting looks all great. I can't tell you're left-handed.

Other than incorrect spelling of "Hajimemashite" and "kon'nichiwa"), your handwriting looks good, too. Looking forward to your progress!

If I may add, your 'と" would look much better if you keep your second stroke longer and to the right direction.

Yeah, I only write "こんにちわ～" when I chat with someone on the internet or emailing someone close; whenever I actually "write" on a paper, or when I email someone older than me, I write/type 'こんにちは'.

I would probably quelle your definition of "terrible" as a Japanese newbie.... you should check out some native Japanese people's penmanship, it's not always perfect as we assume... I'm not offended, don't get me wrong, but not everyone writes their kana as if they were practicing for a cursive exam....

Oh I scribbled that in about a minute or so... I didn't sit there and use a brush to make the kana, that does count for something....
