Just had a Code Red lockdown.

So we had a code red lock down at our school, we received a threat via phone. Any of this happen to you?

Most of us are out of school so can't directly relate but my son had a lockdown a couple years ago. It was a little scary because it was not long after our friend's daughter got killed in school by a classmate. One never thinks these incidents will hit so close to home until it does.

We had our high school evacuated when I was a freshman, I think. Someone had spread some strange smelling substance somewhere in the school. The staff evacuated us kids while they tried to figure out what it was.

I think we had some kid sabotage the school buses once. Where I lived, school was on every day unless the buses didn't run.

And once we had a problem with a transformer that went out. I can't remember whether that was sabotage or just an accident.

But never a bomb threat or a shooter threat. (Back in those days we didn't have the term code red used at school.)

On Facebook , I follow many Maine law Enforcement sites. At least once a month there is a school lockdown like you had. Some are caused by writing on the bathroom wall or mirror at school and someone reports it and usually they send everyone home early or make them stand out in the cold till the school is checked. What I think is weird is almost all the phone in threats come from out of state. They happen often enough here that the schools with a police officer/resource officer just say lockdown for a short time and then back to normal. Most schools here in Maine have all the doors into the school always locked once classes start.
