I feel like I ask too many questions about the site...but I'm a curious person, heh.

Is there a reason the JRef kanji dictionary hasn't worked the last couple of days? Or is it just my computer being it's dumb self?

Yeah, go up to the Language link, in between Society and Glossary. You can type in a word, and get a kanji/translation of it. I've found it super useful on more than one occasion. Doesn't do sentances, though...but that's what Babel Fish is for, which you can also find in the Language section.

Thanks for the notification! 👍

The dictionary is linked to a third-party site that is apparently not operational any longer. One of our long-term projects is to install all these dict modules on our server in order to provide a JREF dictionary section. Seems it is time to move that project up on my to-do list...

Oh, and please don't hesitate to ask about JREF-related issues! :-)

OMG!
This is horrible
The Dictionary on this site is the best Japanese English DIctionary Ever!
PLEASE TELL ME WHERE I CAN FIND A DICTIONARY AS GOOD!
The Jref dictionay has many words. not only normal words but some slang and many katakana words. and it tells what kind of word it is (Such as ADJ-NA).
I depend on this dictionary. I hope it works soon. But please tell me what I do now that this dictionary doesn't work.
No other dictionarys are good at all.
Somebody help me please!!!!

Admittedly there are many things I'm discovering about Jref. The latest is this dictionary... :-) and now it's gone before I even had the chance to use it... 😭

Well, no need to panic there! I'm sure thomas is taking care of it as my fingers type. :-)

I know right! I just found out about this magical dictionary, and now it's gone. T_T

Other good dictionaries

Jim Breen's site has many online dictionaries that are pretty good. The J-E one at least has sample sentences (not sure about the others). Also the dictionary at goo is good (check my sig); it has J-E, E-J, and J-J dictionaries. The one at infoseek is the same as the one at goo, except the it has katakana word and kanji dictionaries as well (although the kanji dictionary only gives radical, stroke number, and readings; no meanings).

I am glad to announce that the dictionary is back online! :-)

Our plan to install all required modules eventually on our own server remains unchanged.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!
MY LIFE CAN CONTINUE!!!
THANKS SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!
Who is responsible for this dictionary?
Cuz those people need to be greatly rewarded!
