tada-san, I must say, I was really proud of how well you kept up with the Japanese conversation with Ashikaga san, epigene san and the visiting lady who came by!

Why was I proud of that? Cause as a fellow J-Ref member, it's encouraging and great to see other native-English-speaking members dive in there and put their studies to great use like you did. Kudos, man.
 
Can Someone Open The Room This Week?

I won't be around this Sunday morning to open the room for voice chat (I am going to Ueno, Tokyo to try the Indian curry restaurant epigene told me about! Yay!). So, Would someone open the room for me? Pretty pretty please??

Unfortunately, I don't know what will happen this weekend (I might have work to do or my family might decide to go out).

Opening a chatroom in Paltalk should be easy, so I'd be very happy if someone can do it for us.

Ack, I cannot figure out how to start my own room. The interface I have looks nothing like those on the help pages.
when I try to click "Create My Group" and select the Free option, nothing happens. It just leads me back to the same page.

edit: still trying... can someone else try too? I am having no luck with this

edit2: The admins told me that the room creation page is down.

Too bad! I've tried, too, but couldn't.

It seems that there is an option for Ashikaga to share his admin rights with others. Maybe he can do that the next time.

Edit: I have a feeling that Paltalk is trying to limit the number of free chat groups? That's quite reasonable, actually, since they're doing it as a business enterprise.
Also, I think that our admin Dutch has a Paltalk room, too?? If so, I hope he can share admin rights for that room, too!
I've also realized that Gmail has a video and voice chat function. Maybe that can be used as an alternative. I have a Gmail account.
 
I signed on to PAL last night to check on the situation tada and epigene had mentioned and I could not load my room nor create a new one, and this morning, I can't even open the program/sign on.... ☝

I'll try to sort it out by this weekend.
 
Well, I don't know what it was but whatever it was has been fixed.

I had to re-install PALTALK but it is working OK now.

I have given admin status to all the JREF forum admins/mods who have been in the voice chat (Frank, epigene, Dutchbaka, etc.).

Hopefully, not everyone is having the problem we were having and they will be able to join us in the chat this weekend.

Pal talk had a recent upgrade as I recently found when I tried to open my own room last Friday. You must download the latest version of Pal for it to take effect.

You can find me in the Room "Japanese Music, Oldies, Pops and Enka" under "Asia, Pacific, Oceania", subcatagory "Japan"

I usually open the room on Fridays at about 9am CT US Time (Midnight Friday night Sat morning in Japan. Please feel free to stop on by iuf you can. Name is "Wild Turkey 101".

I used to host rooms on Yahoo/Yahoo Japan but I was having a hard time with spammers and the over all "anything goes" atmosphere.

Have you tried PALTALK*? I really like how it works.

*I SWEAR I am not getting paid by them!

Anyway, please consider joining us sometime for a voice chat.

Ashikaga, thanks for coming to my room on PalTalk this morning. It was a great conversation and you really do know your oldies! I'm impressed! Besides I got to know you better! Same time again next week. Maybe I should open it earlier? BTW I changed it to a "G" room so others can find it easier. Thanks again for stopping by.

Maybe next time, if enough JREFER's stop by we can stop the music and just have a voice/video chat. Whatever is fine with me. Paltalk is basically free for all so check it out.

But... Friday night is the worst night for me, too exhausted to stay awake most of the time...
 
Nice talking to you all! At the end there I had paltalk muted as people were starting to pile out. I was on another voice program with a clanmate I hadn't talked to in a while so I was catching up with him. Though interesting conversations were had, that's for sure!
 
Seemed more... cliqued this time. There were two of us talking in French, two of us talking about programming, and all the others just seemed left in the dark or just... left the room.
 
That or not telling Ashikaga how Love Hina ends...
