JLPT 2004 Results!

The JLPT results finally came in the mail today.... and I passed ２級！
So what level did everyone else take, and how did you do?

heheh. I failed. 54%. that's what 3 years of self-study w/out sufficient practice, and inferior grasp of vocabulary gets you . xD
At least I know my weaknesses, and will DEFINITELY pass next time! ^__^

Thank you! This was actually my first time taking the JLPT, so I'm probably not the best person to answer this question. But the main things you'll probably need to focus on are trying to increase your reading speed as much as possible and learning the grammar forms (170 or so).

I'll let you know how the progression from ２級 to １級 goes, though.

I hope to take the 2級 in a few years myself since I'd like to work with some businesses over in Japan and put my accounting degree to some use outside of taxes in the US. Until then, I have a lot of work. Good luck studying for the 1級 though.

Something that's really important to remember about the jump from 3kyu to 2kyu is the significant increase in the number of kanji as well. If I'm not mistaken, it jumps from about 300 characters to 1000.

I'm hoping to be ready to take the Level 4 this December. The main thing holding me back is I still haven't mastered Hiragana (nearly there made significant progress the last two weeks) and Katakana so I need to move quickly to stand any chance of learning the required Kanji.

Yeah, learning the kana is ABSOLUTELY VITAL. so you should be 100% fluent in kana as soon as possible. The kanji on the other hand, for 4級, I found quite easy xD. just learn a couple at a time and make sure you know all of their different readings.
My problem was memorizing all the vocabulary. just remember to try not to focus too much on the kanji and learn as much vocabulary as you can.
