I went to buy a Japanese Tv and the sales guy told me for Japan only use. So does this mean it wont work in Canada even if I use a power transformer? I didnt want to take a chance so I bought the cheapest TV there 14inch for 8,000 yen lol. The sale guy was pissed he wanted to sell me a 40,000 yen flat screen.

Really depends. Most TVs are made almost universal nowadays but still voltage can be a problem.

I believe the frequency spectrum is different so you will not get all channels. Though maybe things are more universal nowadays. My Japanese VCR tuner doesn't work for me here in the U.S. but the VCR is about 6 years old.
