I recently got my hands on a Japanese drama that was supposedly broadcasted at midnight every friday a few months ago. The thing that I found surprising was that while it had scenes with frontal full exposure of the breast and buttocks, it was shown on a major television network (albeit at midnight). It kinda makes Pro Wrestling in the US seem like nothing at all, in terms of nudity. I don't live in Japan, so I am wondering if shows like this are really tolerable in Japan?

Japanese TV used to be pretty 'racy' but I think it's become a lot more restrained in recent years. It's nothing compared to what you'd see in a lot of European countries.

Perhaps someone might point the finger at North America and ask why televsion is so puritanical. The controversy over the Janet Jackson Superbowl incident was verging on the ridiculous.

Actually delete the "verging on the" part of the last sentence.

Americans are less open about sex compare to European counterparts, for this country held on to " Puritan Values " of the Pilgrims.

I've recently learned from fellow European forumer(s) here,European TV programs with " frontal nudity " come on air after 9:00 PM.

A couple of years ago Channel 5 in the UK did a season on Naturism. One of the shows was put out a 8:30pm at night. Did cause some controversy, not because of the nudity, but because it went out before 9:00pm, and the UK is one of the more conservative countries in Europe when it comes to sex and nudity.

The last time I was in France, they had a TV show one day (live from Cannes) in which they featured girls they'd dragged off the beach, and had they parade up and down in a variety of bikinis, then topless. If I remember correctly the girl they featured on this particular day was 14 years old.

I recall this Japanese Bansai programming on international cable channel back in early 2000's,they had trivial questions during commercial break.I've seen one with this bald Japanese middle-aged dirty oldman hand groped one drooping breast of topless Japanese model, the trivial question was " how much this boob weights ? ".It was utterly cultural shock to me how Japanese men could pervertedly degrade their own women folk.

:shiver:  :p

My collection of Japanese TV regular doramas, some have scenes with female character fully naked backside ( buttocks ) exposure.

Can't argue that. It seems we stuffed shirt Americans are downright fanatical when it comes to Puritan Values. You've got politicans who shameless pander to the holier than thou religious right who raise all kinds of hell over anything they deem inappropriate, especially when it comes to the media. And with the FCC as a heavyhanded judge, jury and executioner, so-called violators get hit and hit hard, i.e. the Janet Jackson Super Bowl flap. To the rest of the world, that was no big deal, but here in the U.S., it was a monstrous scandal.

That's also why imported anime had been ridiculously hacked to pieces back in the mid 90's because to narrowminded knuckleheads, anime was just another kind of cartoon, and they can't allow cartoons to be offensive to kids watching the stuff. Hell, it's not just TV that gets browbeaten, but terrestrial radio too, case in point: Howard Stern had been persecuted and fined to death by the FCC for years because of his raunchy act until he finally had enough and went to satellite. Oh, yeah, we're definitely repressed when it comes to sex on TV compared to the rest of the world.

Censorship is still there

Get yourself SkyPerfect cable and you'll see so much more at any hour.
Paid cable is hot.Not as hot as what you are thinking.
True, you can see skin on regular service, briefly at night.
Now all you have to do is get to Japan, instead of talking about it.

yah, america is so frustrated and violent. prime time tv can show all sorts of people shooting each other in the head several times or being beheaded, but can't show people with no clothes on
just like walmart selling guns to ten year olds but removing all the copies of maxim and fhm from their shelves

What is more interesting about this puritan value in the US is that while pornography in Japan must follow rather strict censorship laws, in the US there are virtually no censorship to speak of. Of course, in both countries, extreme and immoral pornography are forbidden.

If nudity is horrible for u then do not switch on Italian local televisio networks... you will see what u haven't seen...

Do we have European erotica ( hardcore X-rated ) TV programs on any US cable, can anyone here answer this as my enquiring mind wanting to know ?

SkyPerfect is hot??? We stopped subscription to Playboy and similar channels because we were disappointed...😊
There's more on internet TV sites.👍

Let me guess: Gilgamesh Night. This was Ai Iijima's foray into mainstream television (the film Platonic Sex is based on her autobiography and her odd navigation from physically/mentally abused girl to rape victim to porn star to mainstream talent-o). The shows she's on now are considerable more family-friendly.

Within the last ten years Japanese TV has become much more, for lack of a better term, 'prudish'. There are the random rabuho CM on past midnight on weekends, but not as much blatant primetime titillation as in the 90's.

Oh, I see. Well, I'll keep that in mind then. Still, that was quite a surprise. 😌

What else is there to see in Japan

This is as hot as it's gonna get in Japan.
All the right positions with censorship and needless ugly violence.

I remember the early days of Channel 5 when they did movies with pornographic elements.

Ah good old days.

Yeah, America seems right fanatical about exposure of the human body, but its no secret the American conservative Christian wing has gotten a boost in recent years.

In Japan the human body is just that, the human body, nothing sinful about it, so I always assume their mroe tolerant of exposure.

i been meaning to ask

what kind of body can have full frontal exposure of the buttocks
that's a bad joka
dr. seuss character
unh! tell me or something!
anyway vermillion pleasure night pushes the limit...
boondocks is kind of raw too
i just bought it last week at circuit city on sale for $27.99
