Japanese kimonos

Hi!
I need an information about the beautiful Japanese kimonos!
I have many friends in my hometown and I would like to buy some of those wonderful kimonos that I saw in Narita airport.
They are bright coloured, in silk ( I think, not sure ) and cost around 5000 yen
Do you know anywhere in Tokyo where I could buy those kimonos?
Maybe if possible, I would like to spend less than 5000 yen, I need to buy many of them ( more than 20! I have lots of friends )
I would like to know a place ( like a discount store or so ) where you could by those kimonos.
Even on line shops are fine

I would suggest that you were almost certainly looking at Yukata; a lighter, single layer kimono usually worn in summer. They often come in bright colors and are easier to put on, hence more suitable for foreigners. If this is the case the material is probably cotton rather than silk. If you walk around any shopping mall, you should come across a shop eventually that sells them. However, given that it is now October, this is not really the right time of year to buy one. You might find a limited stock in a few places. Maybe better to wait for spring.

I will try to go to some shopping mall.
If you have any suggestion where I can find cheap ones close to Shinagawa, Shibuya or Shinjuku, thanks!
In any case I will have a look!

You won't find a kimono worth wearing for less than ﾂ??00,000, and the cheapest yukata you will find will probably run about ﾂ??,000. At the touristy places (asakusa, the gaijin gift shop in harajuku, etc) you can probably find yukata and jinbe for a bit less than that (but not by much).

You might want to try a hotel's gift shop. I saw some last summer at the Shiba Park Hotel gift shop. They were around 5,000 yen.

don't get the colorful ones made of silk that they sell in narita - those aren't even a kimono or a yukata. they're just made to look like that for foreigners, but they're really more like a housecoat.

when i was in asakusa last time they had used kimono for $5 in one of the side streets. i bought a few for my friends back home, but these were definitely not pretty...they were wool and very, very dark grey/brown/greens and such. my friend picked up a very hideous orange striped wool kimono (it was so ugly) just because they were $5. i'm guessing they were men's winter kimono.

You mean, good yukatas at less than 3000?
That would be fine for me..

As a last resort (and at the risk of stating the bleedin' obvious), you could always jump on the train and go back to Narita.

Try Jusco... I think they are still on sale there... they probably may even be cheaper, due to the end of the summer months.
