Most webmasters rely heavily on Google and their webmaster tools in order to analyse traffic flows and trends. One of Google's latest gadgets integrated into Google Analytics are Google Real-Time reports, indicating how many people visit a page at any given moment, where they come from (by referrers and geographically) and what keywords they were querying the Google search engine for, eventually making them land on planet JREF.

Needless to say, that tool is a dream come true for most webmasters. Whenever I'm working on the page I monitor the traffic on a separate screen checking what brings people here. Here's a random selection:

SEARCH QUERIES

The weird:

I get something similar via Flickr stats. The weirdest Google query I've had so far was for "DIY stool sample".

The issues and questions seem to be unchanged for years--including the Japanese strangling ritual! Rumors on the web never die.. hahaha

This reminds me a TV show aired late at night. I believe it is drawing quite a following among Japanese viewers, and my husband and I like it ourselves. The basic approach of the show is to interview people (who are apparently foreign nationals) arriving in Japan to ask why they came and, if they get lucky, follow them to their destination in Japan. The lot of the people interviewed are Japan lovers. There was once a mother and daughter "kawaii" culture fans arriving from the UK for the 3rd time, and the TV crew followed them around their shopping trips, etc. That one was a good one, but I can't find it on Youtube.

This is another example. Though it is all in Japanese, the interviewees respond mostly in English, so it should be understandable.

On a more serious note: your pictures are amazing, there's a lot for an amateur to learn. I guess your truck's cabin is an ideal place to lurk for the perfect shot.

I have never heard of the Japanese strangling ritual, but I guess it's something I should google in private.

It was something posted here in JREF around the time I just joined.

It is some game featuring a house or mansion in Japan where the ritual takes place. A lot of the people believed it is a true ritual in Japan. I remember very clearly because I posted a lot of links to prove otherwise.

Oh, that must be the "Himura Mansion". That draws a lot of traffic, too. I believe that's a computer game based on ritual murders in a mysterious mansion "in the vicinity of Tokyo". I and my dirty fantasy... ;-)
