Japan mulls limiting foreign residents to 3 percent of population

Setting a cap on immigration sounds a right thing to do. It would allow the government to manage, in orderly fashion, immigration issues and social problems naturally arise later on.

The ratio doesn't have to be 3% forever. It can be adjusted in the future. It could be 5%, 10%, whatever, if the society needs more people from outside. The problem is that once you accept immigrants, you cannot easily extradite them even if you realize something is gone wrong with the policy.

Japan is still very much a closed off society from the rest of the world in many aspects.
Japan- language,culture,economics plays a vital role in the everyday life here.
Anybody thinks that is going to change is wishing in a empty well.

Let me add that anyone who is thinking of coming here to visit will be surprised to find out that there is little English spoken here.
The Hollywood version of Japan is all fantasy.
