Is this sentence about my weird father correct?

I'm meeting my new Japanese tutor this week, and my father will be with me. However, he's a little bit strange, so I want to tell her (without my father knowing what I say) that he's a little weird, so she shouldn't mind what he says. Is this correct? (sorry for the spacing and lack of kanji... it's easier for me to remember how to say it this way ^^; )

わたしのおとうさんはすこしかわっているので、もし、へんなことをいってもきにしないでください。

Your Japanese sentence is okay, except you should use the humble form for your own father:

わたしのちちはすこしかわっているので、もし、へんなことをいってもきにしないでください。

FYI おとうさん is used for someone else's father. :-

Seems like a lot to say. but then again I always get the simple stuff wrong.

わたしのちちはちょっとへんなことでもしんぱいしないでください。
My father is a little strange but please don't worry about it.
私の父（ちち）はちょっとへんなことです。
Maybe even using おかしい。

父（ちち）はちょっと変わっているから、もし変（へん）な事（こと）を言ったら（いったら）気にしないでください。

いったらmeans "if he says..."

I concur with Epigene-san and would stick with "Ittemo".

It's more like "even if he says . . ."

The baseline measure is how strange is he and how likely is he to say something odd ? In this case from the source only slightly, ergo 'even if.' Apologies especially to Azerii for throwing around her father for practice like this. :sorry:

If you are arguing a grammatical point, the use of "ittara" will suggest that you "expect" him to say strange things. "Ittemo" will mean "in the likelihood that he would say such things."

However, I choose "ittemo" is because it is more natural Japanese. "Ittara" is somewhat strange usage, although not entirely wrong.

Haha, it's perfectly fine!
I met my future tutor today, and my dad thought it would be cute to say some random sounds and pretend it was Japanese, so I said わたしのちちはすこしかわっているので、もし、へんなことをいってもきにしないでください。She laughed and said that it was okay, and complimented my Japanese.

"Ittara" is somewhat strange usage, although not entirely wrong.

There's nothing wrong with using "ittara" here. It just depends on what you want to say. "If..." or "Even if..."

Another example of "tara" and "temo":

Moshi ame ga futtara ikuno yameyou. (if it rains, let's not go)

Moshi ame ga futtemo ikou. (Even if it rains, let's go)

In this example, the two are not quite interchangeable.
