Intransitive verb usage

can someone tell the difference of these two sentences..

まど が しまる
まど が しまっている

what would be the tranlation if you added "iru" at the past tense of an intransitive..
cause i think that "まど が しまる" was already at past tense or can someone elaborate the right usage of those sentence compositions....
hope for an answer and thanks in advance
and by the way i'm a newbie in nihongo so i prefer using hiragana and katakana... i know only few kanji(really few)

It's not the past tense.

しまる: the dictionary form; basically for the present and future tense
しまって: the -te form
しまった: the past tense

thanks for the reply.. but still what would be the explanation on the difference of the two sentences.. cause when i translated it with an online translator those two got the same meaning.... both are translated as "window is closed"

しまる is an instantaneous verb. Whether transitive or intransitive, ～ている form of instantaneous verbs expresses the current state that results from prior movements. For instance, 死んでいる means "Someone is dead (Someone died in the past and his/her current state is dead)". Whereas the dictionary form expresses the present habit or the future tense.

毎日午後九時に窓が閉まる。
まいにち ごご くじ に まど が しまる。
The window closes everyday at 9 PM.

明日の朝、窓が閉まる。
あす の あさ、まど が しまる。
The window will close tomorrow morning.

窓が閉まっている。
まど が しまっている。
The window is closed. (The window closed in the past and the current state of the window is "closed".)
