Well, it's been quite a ride for the past year or so, but at least for the time being, I am moving back to the U.S.A. to either help nurse my aging father back to health or be there for his final days. Either way, I don't know how long it will be, so I'm treating it as my last foreseeable move overseas.

As such, I'm debating whether to just get rid of everything but basics, or use a moving company that works internationally to move all of my stuff in order to keep it. I'Ve done some research on this, but one thing I can not find are people who have actually used such a service.

If anyone has used a moving company to move internationally (especially from Japan to another country), please share your experiences. Thank you in advance.

Hope you have better luck.

When I moved from Japan, I had the Navy move some belongings. What did not get broken, got lost. Take pictures and buy insurance on what ever you end up doing. Also, customs in my home state of Maine would not release anything I sent home untill I got there and opened all the boxes for their inspection. Good luck.

I'm gonna need all these on our big day. We are from Pacific moving to New York. We are all pretty excited. I'd let you know the result of our excitement :) Thanks a lot.

Thanks for your replies! As it turned out, I basically was forced to get rid of about 90% of my possessions due to the timing of my move coupled with the fact that I apparently started doing legwork a little too late. I shipped a few boxes via post and crammed as much as I could on the plane. I'd still be interested in hearing people's experiences with international moving companies, though!

Shifting items or relocating to another place can be extremely stressful for anyone. There are many moving companies that help you to solve your shifting problems as smooth as possible and help you to relocate your belongings. They also take the responsibility of packing the goods, and sending to the destination without creating any trouble and anxiety for you.

I'd love to move to Japan to take part in the AMAZING animation... Someday, I will help the Bleach animators and become one of them! I will not stay in America.... Moving to Japan and working with anime is my only dream, though I am only a freshman in high school.

I dont think i will be taking all my belonging with me from the states. I bet there are lot of moving companies expenses just to get to the airport.
