Hi. I am writing this in behalf of my wife. We are searching for her brother Jim Wolfe, whom we have reason to believe is alive in Tokyo, though she hasn't heard from him since 1968. Here is what we know about him:
Jim's full name is Gunner James Wolfe. He was born on December 16, 1943 in Sacramento, CA USA. His parents names were Byron and Naomi. Jim's parents and his mom remarried Ernest Martin Haines in 1950. The family moved to Richmond, CA, then to Guam, then to Kodiak Alaska, and finally to Concrete, WA in about 1962. Jim enlisted in the US Air Force early in 1962 at Elmendorf Air Force Base near Anchorage AK. He was sent to Tokyo where he married and had a daughter Mara, who was born on July 22, 1964. Jim, Mara and her mother returned to the US, where she and Jim divorced. Jim returned to Tokyo in 1968. No one has heard from him since.
We were able to contact his daughter Mara, who lives in Fairfield, CA. Here is what she knows of her father. Her father did indeed return to Tokyo. He remarried and had four children. The oldest is 25 now so would be born around 1979 or 1980. As far as we know, Jim left his family while his wife was pregnant with their 4th child. This would have been around 1992. This is all we know. All of the children apparently are still in Japan.
We are not able to get Jim's social security number. We will be contacting the US consulate in Tokyo for assistance but will leave no stone unturned. I will forward more information to you all as I receive it. If anyone knows of any way to search Tokyo white pages, or other ways of determining whether a person is still alive and living anywhere in Japan (or anywhere else), please email me at [email protected].
