I would like to study in Japan

So I'm in my junior year of highschool and ill be having some sort of law major in college but, I have always wanted to live in Japan (although it seems i have missed out on uniforms, which look nice to me since I never had to wear one). I will start taking Japanese classes as a local college apparently a semester is equal to two years of one in highschool, they only have two semesters worth so will that be enough to know the language? What are some good cities to learn in and are active since I'm a pretty social person. I am also pretty short I am only about 5'4 and i dont know if i would feel small there =[

Also I wanted to know if any of you have any tips or anything like that.

1-You want to live in Japan, but you will study American law. Japanese law is different from American law, your American degree will be of very little value.
2-Studying only two semesters of Japanese in college (any college), will most likely not allow you to become fluent in Japanese. (This judgement is also influenced by the fact that even your English isn't top quality, even though you live in the US)
3-If you have no idea about what city to go to and uniforms and social gatherings are your main reasons to go there, you should think things more true.
4-Your height has very little to do with all of this.

My suggestion is that you read a book about Japan so now and then. I mean a real book, not fiction or a manga or television or things on the internet.
"Yoshio Sugimoto: an introduction to Japanese society" would be a good start for example. You will find out lots of information in there.

anyways, you should really consider scalemx's 1rst point. In order to live there, you need a good reason first. Having an American law degree will have a lot of influence.

2 semester of Japanese will allow you to talk to a child, ask for directions, or hold a very simple, boring conversation.

my advice is, take your time, because you have a lot of it. it seems like you are thinking ahead of yourself, like most of us do when we are in highschool.

I graduated from my LLB last year... I always wonder what's the diff btw the American Law and the British Law, coz these 2 areas of law tend to dominate most of the countries in the world in principle or in application ie common law system n non common law system. Then i started readin some American Law Books and do my own research...

I realise that these 2 areas of law is actually not much diff... as u wanted to study law in japan o even practise law in japan... u can take the Juris Doctor(JD) which enable u to practise law in japan. And the entry requirements are not restricted to law students only... non law students also take up the course. And i planing to take this course and work in japan. Due to the facts that the legal system in my country is not too overwhelming and the fact that in order to call to the Malaysian Bar. We have to undergo 9 months of chambering (internship) which equivalent to hell on earth.

Pls PM me if u want to share anything or we can exchange our idea, what shall we do before we go into japan. Haha...
