Hello, native English speakers,

It seems to me that the following sentence is grammatically wrong. What do you think?

I learned about studying English is important, but learning about Japanese culture is also important.

You have to omit the first "about", don't you think?

Yes it's grammatically incorrect. You can either remove "about" as you suggested or replace it with "that".

Another possibility is
"I learned about WHY studying English..."
