last night after i went to bed i checked all email and my friends section on my website. this morning when i woke up i had 37 bulk/spam emails and around 20 comments that were spam. is there anyway to prevent them? i think its a googlebot.

I also have it on my kobecityinfo email address, everyday around 7-10 emails about enlarge your pennis, and buy this stuff... recenlty 40% of it is Japanese spam haha.. it indeed is quite annoying.

this nice method decreased spam entries in my guestbook by 100%.

if you want i can send u some scripts, u just need to modify and include them on your homepage

for mail spam i recommend mozilla thunderbird, it has some sophisticated anti-spam features.

err instructions are in german, i'll try to translate...

IMPORTANT: you need to have GD graphics libary installed on ur server, info: Short Term Loans

1) connect via FTP and trasfer the content of the archive to your main directory

2) launch application: your-domain.com

3) generated captcha graphic is displayed - type the code in the form and click the 'go' button

4) the following page will show you 2 stings: 1st: the code u entered, 2nd: the code as shown in the generated image

you have to compare these codes and if they match, the messages can be submitted

If you're looking for stuff for your forum, maybe you should try cracker-tracker. I installed it, but since my forum isn't really online yet, I can't say how effective it is.

well i had a spammer for the forum but its not that now thats the problem. in the last couple days ive got around 700 posts in my friend section all spam. so im going to find something else.

What's this Friends-section good for, actually? Just a guestbook? Since you have a forum, wouldn't a shoutbox be of more use in that regard?

Anyway, I mean to remember something about securing guestbooks which I read a while ago. Don't remember where, though. Maybe you should simply google for guestbook & spambots & script.

i had something else before the guestbook script that worked good. what im going for it a PHP/MYsql database where the viewer can click either friends, language exchange, romance etc at the top then when page clicked a form at the top has your name, email,location, etc and when posted it shows up below. and each new post goes ontop of the old. plus people can reply. I dont like the way the guestbook thing works. if i could get the form ontop and some kind of reply it would be great. i didnt take the time to try and change it to much only add headers and footer little stuff like that.
