I am now a bonified member of the Communist Party. Dont know how it happend though, i guess its like smoking, do it once and your hooked. I Got a neat Red Card(Comunista ID), and funny looks from the parents. But i guess its better than the other side of the political map. I'm dirt poor anyways so it dont matter.

So what's your point? I see you have "Soon to be Military." listed under occupation in your profile. If you really do prescribe to that set of social values then i'm sure you'll be a real hit in Basic. 8-)

Might Have A Negative Impact ?

Many jobs now require a background check; sometimes even having a relative who is a communist can cost you a good position and pay. The CIA & FBI Have long memories, a membership now may come back to hurt you 30 or 40 years from now. There are many older people who still HATE the thought of a "dirty commie" . But, who knows, todays world is different and it may open some interesting doors for your future.

What is that anyway?... America, the land of the free where you can be any colour you want aslong as you're white, have any religion you want aslong as you want to be christian, have any political values you want aslong as you're not having differing opinions from anyone else...

The fact that I think communism is a foolish idea that has been proven time and again not to work in reality is beside the point.

Some people think canooing over the atlantic or climbing a really tall rock sounds like a good idea. We don't get mad at them for being dumb.

I'm certainly glad to see you put so much thought into it.

No one said the American Youth thought. Plus I trust my friends(the ones who showed me it), and its no diffrent than anything else, just ordinary people living there lives.

So what is it about Communism that appealed to you so strongly?

Why the hell would you go, and join the communist party? People really do not like communists, most definently not in the USA. I can see your career in the military getting ****** over big time because of this. I really hope you thought about it too.
You are making it look like you did it without putting any thought into it. Please explain yourself.

What a strange thing to do. Why communism? Being poor doesn't really mean much. Lenin wasn't really hard up nor was Mao Zedong.

In the mindset that there are Millions of Communists(Billions if you count china), some would say that they are forced to be, but if that is the case then why havnt they rise in arms to the local governments? There are certanly a lot more in numbers, but for the reason that they choose to be.

Besides, There are a few things in this world that you find seems to fit in perfect with your life. For me that is Communism. I cant even begin to tell you how good it feels when a fellow commrade helps you up when a local drunk thinks your a good target and runs away when he sees your friends. How good it feels to proudly wear the Hammer & Sickle on your chest. How good it feels when there are people of all walks of life in your group, white, black, asian, spanish, etc. And to proudly wave the red flag in the front lawn.

There is strengh in numbers, and I want to be apart of those numbers. Im not afraid of the effects of it, Ill gladly stand next to my friends, my commrads, and stand up to those who would harm me becuse of it. When you know that someone always has your back, you feel like nothing can stop it.

I wouldn't count on that. The vast majority in China isn't communist anymore, not even inside the CCP.

When you know that someone always has your back, you feel like nothing can stop it.
If you're simply looking for camaraderie, I suppose, you can find that in other groups too. That's not really a reason to join the communists of all things.

Ironic isn't it? During the Cultural Revolution everyone seemed to have been brainwashed by Mao Zedong (is brainwash the right word?) Sending people from a higher social positions out to the fields to see how it felt to be in the working class, calling idea's such as love "bourgeois" and so many other things that has happened. Do you think Mao Zedong spent all those years studying Marx/Lenin to see China adopt the idea of capitalism?

Well anyway back on topic, I was wondering if you realized how many countries are actually Communists? I won't say it's a bad idea, I would say that Communism doesn't work. If you want to call yourself a Communist then that's fine.

Ma Cherie, you ought to read 'Wild Swans' by Jung Chang and her account of living through the Cultural Revolution. Brainwashed isn't the word I would use after reading it, fear is more accurate. You'll probably like it. I'm currently reading her book on Mao and so far it has revealed a few facts about his commitment to communism and the way he treated his 'Comrades'

People who don't know better and don't want things to get worse do nothing because they fear what will happen. They just want to live their lives in peace and don't change anything. The ones who do will die...

This looks like the story of that stereotypical nerdy guy that gets beat up by bullies and thinks if he can join a 'strong' group he won't be harmed and can get recognition and protection. If you think it is 'IN' if you join some dorks in suits with their nice 'hammer and sickle' then you are nothing but a mindless idiot who acts like a drone.I think individuality is the most beautiful thing a human being can get.If you want other people to think for you instead, order you around...then by all means be my guest. But if you do it only because your friends do, then you really are pathetic. It's just like those punks who smoke or do drugs because their friends do it...

May I also remind you that communism in the history of the human kind led to nothing but suffering and creating dictators who abused that idealistic dreamimage.I don't think you know what communism means...it's not that nice as you think it is.

There are billions more who are not Communists, so this particular point doesn't explain the appeal of Communism over anything else.

You can also get camraderie in the Ku Klux Klan, the Aryan Brotherhood, the Nation of Islam, The Boy Scouts, any branch of the military, or a Tuesday night bowling league. Again, you have not addressed what it is about the economic philosophy of Communism that appeals to you.

So it boils down to you joining something you know nothing about just because you like the clubbiness of it?

Not to disparage or insult any fellow member of Jref, especially since I'm hardly a rocket scientist myself, but that's some of the most ridiculous, emptyheaded nonsense I've ever read in my life.

Never mind that Communism is literally last century, it was state sanctioned and sponsored barbarism, plain and simple, resulting in nothing but grief and misery and oppression for the Russian people going back generations, where innocent people were spied on, accused of being enemies of the state because they dared to reject the brutal ideologies of their leaders and packed off to gulags in Siberia to die. More importantly, Communism fomented the madness of the Cold War which had the world teetering on the brink of nuclear war for decades. I was in the Navy, so I was on the front lines during those dangerously tense and perilous years. These days, the only bastions of Communism are Cuba and North Korea, ruled by a dinosaur (Castro) and a crackpot (Kim Il Jong) respectively. And those countries are literally train wrecks, cut off from the rest of the world.

Good Lord! Who the hell wears the hammer and sickle on their chests or waves red flags these days? Even the freaking skinheads would laugh at anyone who did! That sounds so incredibly idiotic, I'm surprised you typed that b.s. with a straight face. As for camraderie, like Mike Cash said, you can get that anywhere without embracing an ideology that leaves people thinking you've taken leave of your senses. And these days, Ghost, chances are pretty damn good that your fellow "comrade" is more likely to roll your brain dead *** than some punk in the street who isn't part of your little group of misguided Ivans. Apparently, you're young and stupid and don't know what to do with your life, so you subscribed to this crap because it makes you feel good, even though it's clear you haven't clue about what Communism really is, or rather, was.

Would anyone care to guess what critical flaw Communist theory and Japanese road/highway planning have in common?

He doesn't even show any evidence of having the slightest clue what that set of social values is. Just so long as his buddies are doing it (probably with no more idea about it than him), he's in there with them. Amway representatives have wet dreams about guys like this.

hehe

{smiles to self}

Congrats everybody, You all just played a part of an essey im doing about cause and effect 👍 . Must say that this help a lot. But I thought the effect would be worse though, ah well! 😊

True, i dont know all that much about Communism(I am working on that), so at least some of you raised eyebrows(Frank, you know better). And I am pretty well Edumacated by the way I must say! As for camraderie, tiss true that i look for it, but i would think twice before joining something like this for it. besides, i have explored every political side for information(better to do it in person) and have come out with very good insite. Communism is the one i havnt looked at for a bit, so my info is a bit fuzzy.

NEXT WEEK: Anarchy

Fashjeff, i dont take offence so dont worry bout it.

Communism is not that hard of an ideology. Basically it wants the means of production no to be controlled by one class, but equally shared amongst all individual in a society. So Marx wanted the workers as well to own the factories and mines and what not, not just the upper classes. The wealth would be distributed equally, and eventually because there would be no more class conflict, meaning no class holding the other down, government would not be necessary. Religion for marx was an opiate that drugged the people into accepting the way things were by promising a good after life.
What turned out to be communist countries after ww2 resembled nothing of the marxist system.

btw if you wanted to know more about communism or what not, you could have just asked or started out with, hello im writing this esssay about cause and effect, how would you react, instead of triking some people here who put real effort and thought into answering to your post.

I know, but as a kid, i got to get kicks somewhere. BUT thanks for that litte bit of info, ill save it.

TY, that helps, for everybody else intrested 'ere is a bit of info for Anarchy.

Where does the circled-A come from?

The circled-A is even more famous than the Black and Red-and-Black flags as an anarchist symbol (probably because it lends itself so well to graffiti). According to Peter Marshall the "circled-A" represents Proudhon's maxim "Anarchy is Order." [Demanding the Impossible p. 558] Peter Peterson also adds that the circle is "a symbol of unity and determination" which "lends support to the off-proclaimed idea of international anarchist solidarity." ["Flag, Torch, and Fist: The Symbols of Anarchism", Freedom, vol. 48, No. 11, pp. 8]

However, the origin of the "circled-A" as an anarchist symbol is less clear. Many think that it started in the 1970s punk movement, but it goes back to a much earlier period. According to Peter Marshall, "n 1964 a French group, Jeunesse Libertaire, gave new impetus to Proudhon's slogan 'Anarchy is Order' by creating the circled-A a symbol which quickly proliferated throughout the world." [Op. Cit., p. 445] This is not the earliest sighting of this symbol. On November 25 1956, at its foundation in Brussels, the Alliance Ouvriere Anarchiste (AOA) adopted this symbol. Going even further, a BBC documentary on the Spanish Civil War shows an anarchist militia member with a "circled-A" clearly on the back of his helmet. Other than this, there is little know about the "circled-A"s origin.

Today the circled-A is one of the most successful images in the whole field of political symbolising. Its "incredible simplicity and directness led [it] to become the accepted symbol of the restrengthened anarchist movement after the revolt of 1968" particularly as in many, if not most, of the world's languages the word for anarchy begins with the letter A. [Peter Peterson, Op. Cit., p. 8]

I think ill get it tatooed. That will REALLY suprize the parents 😊

How to wind up an Anarchist: Lesson 1
Part of the Anarchist creed is they don't believe in money. So next someone say to you that they are, or believe in anarchy, ask them for all their money. If they refuse tell them they aren't real anarchists. This can be fun, watching their faces as they try to work out how to get out of that conundrum 👍
