Looking at the Slashdot site today, I found a good explanation on why I write so much stuff here and at other forums on the Net. The explanation came from this link on /.

Science is complex. More often than not very well-trained and experienced scientists get it completely wrong. That said, somebody with a minimal scientific background (ie. a Journalism major) will very often screw up more complicated scientific articles. But likewise, many scientists dislike writing such articles. So we end up with a situation where those in the know would rather not write, and those not in the know are the ones who do write. And the result is lousy scientific articles.

And since we all know (except myself) that I know nothing, therefore this is the reason why I write in so many mind-numbing threads here

may also explain why there are so many lousy threads posted by me.

Why other people write so much here may not be a reflection of the above commentary, however...but your mileage/kilometerage may vary. Remember, supplies are limited, use as directed, and keep refrigerated.

Good point. An excellent example is this thread Men only have 10 million years left (sorry Dream Time). The journalist who wrote that article got it all wrong, but intelligent, thoughtful people here were taken in by it :angryfire
If you want to know about science, read those few scientists who do enjoy writing, like Stephen Jay Gould and Paul Davies.
