How to use the word かんじ?

Hello! I'm really confused about this one. I sometimes listen to various podcasts in Japanese and I very often hear the word かんじ. As in というかんじです etc. I'm not sure what it means, and I can't google it because it just refers me to 漢字, which is obviously not what I'm looking for. Can someone explain to me how to use this word?
