三十代と十五歳という
犯罪臭を少しでも
誤魔化す為に

Does this mean something like ''For the purpose of deceiving middle aged criminals if just a little bit''? Or is it ''For the purpose of slightly distracting others from that scent of crime which middle aged men tends to have''? Or maybe it's neither? I Believe it's the first one but in all honesty I have no clue... Like 犯罪臭? What? I know that 犯罪 is ''crime'' and 臭 is a kanji mostly used for smells... Which makes this a scent of crime... Which sounds kinda odd to me... Does it simply mean ''criminal''?

Thanks beforehand.

There's no character missing between 臭 and を? It seems like 犯罪臭さ might be a candidate... Otherwise it seems like "in order to, at least a little, mask the criminal stench of being in one's 30s and 50s." I've got to admit, though, that doesn't make too much sense to me. Where did the 40s go?

You ignored 十五歳. Those lines are about a relation between two persons; one who is in thier thirties and the other who is fifteen years old. Their relation conjures images of crime (= 犯罪臭[はんざいしゅう]).

Oh, crap. I see I still sometimes get the tens and ones places backwards in Japanese...

That makes more sense. However, 犯罪臭 didn't come up in a dictionary search. Is this some unusual combination or something?

犯罪の臭い would be more common, but I don't think this is an uncommon usage of the suffix 臭.

Interesting.

And I managed to miss 歳 for 代. I should really take my time more.
