Hello everyone, my first time posting on these forums. The questions that I am about to post are from my Japanese class, I have a gist of the meaning down but am not completely sure. So I thought I would ask here just to confirm, here I go:

1.英語ではどんな話し方がていねいですか。
2.日本に留学した時、敬語を使おうと思いますか。
3.日本に留学した時、目上の人に言われたら、いやな ことでもしようと思いますか。どうしてですか

I know these are probably very easy to answer, but I just want some help in making sure of the meanings. I am a very paranoid person 😅

Thank you in advance.

Why not try posting what you think they mean first, and we'll just correct you. At least then you've tried.

Okay, here I go:
1. How to talk politely in English? (eh probably very off on this one)
2. When studying abroad in Japan, do you plan on using honorifics?
3. When studying abroad in Japan, what would you do if a superior asks you to do something that you do not want to do? (mostly this line: いやな ことでもしようと思いますか has me stuck)

1. pretty close, I'd say "What manner of speaking in English is formal?" But there are several ways to word the interpretation.

2. your translation is fine

3. your translation is fine, + "and why."

You definitely got the meaning down for the third one, but i think it is more of a yes/no question + why?

Its like "Would you do something that a superior asks you to do, even if it is something you don't want to?"

Or.. "If told by your superior, would you do something, even if you do not want to?"

Please try not to get too particular, when it comes down to it, in translation/interpretation, the point, and saying something naturally in the target language many times takes precedence over technical accuracy.

Thank you guys for the help, now hope everything can go smoothly in class lol
