Hi everyone, I am a rather new poster at Jref but an avid reader, and I could really use some of the knowledge from all you readers.
So I am going to write my Master's Thesis this fall. I am studying Management (business and economics) at a university in Sweden and I need some serious help with my topic. Everything I can think of is either unclear or way too broad. The problem is that I need to brainstorm with people who are interested in Japanese culture and know something about it... which can be hard to find sometimes.
Anyhow, here goes:
I am not even specifically decided about the field I wish to research. It can be almost anything. I happen to be very interested in both MMA and Video games, and would enjoy discussing either one of them, but a completely different topic is fine too.
I mean, it could be something like:
"Why did Pride lose its prevalence to the UFC" and discuss it from a managerial point of view.
or
"Looking at how Nintendo's management style shapes their video game culture in comparison to Microsoft" and look at xbox vs wii culture. I have no idea. Maybe arcades?
I have some background in Anthropology, so discussing culture could be fun, but probably too broad. I could also look into something like "Why Japanese management has become relatively inefficient these days if one compares to the 80s" and see if a Western management style could be the cure for Japan.
So on and so on. I need some serious help lol.
If anyone has thought of some interesting questions about Japan recently - could be related tot he earthquake, who knows? - please share and help me spawn ideas. It can be almost anything that could help me define my topic.
Thank you for reading this rather long and scattered post, any input is valued.
