Konnichiwa!
I am Steph and I am a first year college student, majoring in illustration. I'm 18 years old and I have an interest in learning the Japanese language, because I have tried a few times, and my muse in learning the language was sparked once more recently.
I have given Rosetta Stone a try, and wow. I am amazed. Pictures with all the phrases and stuff really helped me out, I learn very quickly that way, and i've only been using it for a few days and i've gotten decently good at it. I've picked it up really quickly ( which was what I was hoping for anyways ). Though, I know in the end, it will be a long process that will last a lifetime.
I do have reasons for wanting to learn Japanese. For one, I am an anime fan at heart, and well ... I have lost all faith in dubs in the US, so i've been turning to Japanese anime, in its original form. Another reason, I am a huge dog fan, and I own a Shiba Inu. One of my dreams is to somehow contact breeders in Japan and work with them to begin a breeding program of Shikoku Inu or Hokkaido Inu in the US. I looove the Nihon Ken, all six are such beautiful breeds!
And of course, another reason. To just talk behind my parents back, mess with my friends and such.
Anyways, I hope to use this forum as a tool to help me out when I do need some help.
As of right now, I've only started the basic stuff on Rosetta like a day ago, so about the best I can do is stuff like ...
Onna no hitachi wa tabete imasu ( i'm trying to remember if thats right, its been like an hour since I did my last lesson )
and mix and match the words around that I know.
I was a little confused with a few of the words. Rosetta doesn't explain anything, so the grammar part confused me a ton ( I still got the majority right, nonetheless )
I think most of my confusion came from the wa and o, those were two of the 'grammar words' I had to use during the grammar part, I didn't pick it up.
