So I suppose I should say hello?

I am new to Japan, I have been here for about 1 month, living in a small town south of Nagoya and there arent many people to speak English with.

I am from America, but I have been living in Asia for 2 years. I lived in Thailand for a bit, I can speak some Thai. I am trying to learn Hiragna. I am girl, just looking for some penpals to get in my English vitamins, and to maybe meet some nice people in Japan, in the Aichi region.

Welcome tnkgrrl17! ( what does your name stands for?) Have fun on the forum, and hope that you can tell us about Japan and Asia. I myself am living in Kobe but there are some members who are living in the Aichi area!
 
I'd say "tank girl," as in the film starring Lori Petty and Malcolm McDowell, and her age at the time she originally came up with the name, which would have been 17 at the time of the film's release in 1995.

And fork over your money! tnkgrrl is the reference to tank girl the movie with lori petty and malcom mcdowell, a classic, based on the English comic book. I love comic books. I was 17 when I set up my first email account, but I wasnt 17 in 1995, sorry, you`ll have to guess more at my age!

I am a glorified baby-sitter. Do you know what that means?

I am so happy to hear some of the people here live in my area. I am really excited to make a friend who can speak English, you miss hearing your native tongue after a bit.

ha ha. well i must say, i am pretty sure i know how old i am, and i wasnt 17 in 1995, i used to teach math in thailand so i am feeling okay with this statement.

yup, i teach english, though i feel more like i am paid to make conversation with perfectly capable adults.
 
my bad, I made a mistake when I was working out the years. So was it two years after the film's release that you made that handle, or does the 17 mean something else?
