Hello Japan Forum!

Hi.
My name's James, as you can see already, and I've just found JRef. I'm 30, I'm Australian but have been married (to an American) and living in the US since 2004, and I have had since childhood a deep and abiding love of Japan and Japanese culture (and yet I barely know half a dozen words in Japanese and can't read anything in it at all!).

Recently I've been reading more and more about how non-Japanese interact with Japanese culture in Japan (master sake brewer Philip Harper and author Will Ferguson come to mind) and I find it very interesting and deeply hope to one day experience it for myself.

So, really, that's it. I'm glad I found a place where I can indulge in my curiosity about Japan and Japanese culture, and just generally 'talk shop' about the wonderful country we love.

I also would like to learn Japanese culture and I wish to one day finally visit Japan, but sadly I'm still too young and not financially stable enough to atempt it. I believe I still have a LONG way to go before I'm ready. But enough jabber-jawing, once again, welcome to Jref!
