I got sorta fed up with Microsoft after awhile. Linux was very bad in early 2000s. But i think it got really good by 2024-25.
I think the last resort i did to rely on Windows was to install "Winboat". Which i only use for "Imgburn" software. Because Linux burning software is (Unfortunately really bad, or i didnt get any Linux burning software to work, when it comes to burning Iso or Bin/Cue files. When it comes to old Playstation games that i like to keep a backup copy of.)
But thats the only last resort i use. I dont use Windows for anything outside that thing. Interms of emulation on Ubuntu Linux.
Outside that. Linux works insanely well! I use Ubuntu Linux
Hope i havent made a thread on this before. But what OS do you use?
But the pros to Linux?
1: Privacy. They wont ask you for your phone number or email for installing a OS. Which Microsoft uses interms of selling your personal information
2: Its Open Source, its free so. Likely gonna be made due to love of community vs profitable shady areas
3: If you have any questions about programs i use on Linux? I can try to mention some that works
- OpenShot Video Editor (Video Editing software. I have used it for years so i am quite used to it. But it works well. Though on Linux. I recommend to save your project a lot, since it can close if its too much processing power. But overall works, its the video editor i use. Its open source and free) However, to make Appimage run, you need to Right Click, choose "Execute as Program" to make it run.
-Recording video game footage "Obs Studio".. enough said, its very compatible on Linux
- How to burn CD. Rhytmbox is already installed on Linux and works that way. It uses OGG files but, its said to be higher quality either way than MP3 so i dont care
It sounds good!
- And assuming if your Windows program works on Linux emulation?. "Q4Wine" should exist in App Center. What i tend to use.
Other than that. Thats all i know so far of the basics. But internet is a sea of information
So sorry for the wall of text. Whats your view?
