Hanshin Tigers

Tampa Bay is to baseball what the L.A. Clippers and Atlanta Hawks are in the NBA----a black hole. As in P-I-T-I-F-U-L. Bobby V. can do much better, say like in La-La Land. The Dodgers would be a good fit for him I think.

I think he's better off in Japan. LA is hurting right now and they have a terrible GM. He ruined a perfectly good baseball team! Bobby V. can get better jobs elsewhere and should not come back this year IMHO. I was just passing on the report so that people would know what was happening.

Correction, the Dodgers have no GM as Paul DePoesta was recently fired. But that position won't stay empty for long as Gerry Hunsacker will probably be brought in to interview for the position. Hunsacker had a big hand in putting together that Houston Astros club that made it to the World Series, so he know how to construct a winning team. I'm sure Bobby V will weigh all his options before commiting to another team in the States.

I didn't realize DePotesta was fired...I knew he screwed up a very good ball club though!

Latest news on Yahoo! Japan:

Last night: Bobby Valentine surprises the Japanese media by saying that he doesn't have a three-year contract in the first place (i.e., he's free to do as he pleases next year)!

Today: Media discovers that Bobby met the Lotte owner on an undisclosed date for negotiations, which broke down... :o

Bobby and the Lotte team are currently in training for the Asian Championships... 😌

Valentine Shrine built in admiration of Bobby
(Note: A similar shrine was built for former Seattle Mariners closer Sasaki, when he led the Yokohama Bay Stars to victory in the Japan Series--sorry forgot the year. :sorry: )

Personally, I do hope Valentine stays put with Lotte. Although msn.com also reported that Valentine and the Tampa Bay Management talked for 2 hours regarding the vacant manager position. Two hours is a lot of talking, if one isn't really interested in pursuing anything, the conversation wouldn't last that long. I don't know, but my gut tells me we might be seeing Lotte orphaned.

Central leauge started last friday the 31st of march. Hanshin lost it first match with 4-3 from Yakult, and also on april the first, they lost again, against Yakult with the same score 4-3.
Not a very good start, but We are Tigers, and we Are strong!!!
FURE FURE FURE

Japanese baseball seems more interesting then american baseball. There is alot of spirit in japanese baseball, but I feel like money is the major thing governing american baseball.

Tiger's first win of the new season. Today sunday the 2th of April, they defeated the Yakult Swallows with a score of 9-1.

Tigers 9, Swallows 1

Tomoaki Kanemoto homered and went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and
Hirotaka Egusa pitched eight shutout innings as Hanshin defeated
Yakult for its first win of the season.

Kanemoto had RBI singles in the first and fifth innings to help
Hanshin take a 3-0 lead before adding another single in the seventh
and hitting his first homer of the season in the eighth with a solo
shot to left off Masato Hanada at Jingu Stadium.

Egusa (1-0) scattered four hits and struck out six with two
walks and a hit batter. Closer Tomoyuki Kubota allowed a solo homer
to Adam Riggs in the ninth in a non-save situation.

Going to a baseball game in Japan is like an event. I've watched games on TV, and it's almost surreal, it's more like a soccer match, what with the boundless enthusiasm displayed by the fans. Truly eye-opening....and fun! If I ever make it back to Japan, I'll have to attend a game and take it all in myself.
:-)

Wednesday the 5th of April: Tigers played against Hiroshima toyo carp. and won 10-1.

Woehoe FURE FURE FURE Hanshin tigers!!!!! TIGERS TIGERS second win of the season.

Maybe I'll follow a Japanese team. It might be fun. I understand that Sadaharu Oh, Japan's ome run king manages a team. Which one is it?

Thanks for the info, senseiman! Oh also managed Japan's team in the World Baseball Classic as well.
