Hello people, thanks for having me at your forum!

My name is Chris, I'm 30 and I've spent the last few years (trying) to learn Japanese here in London. My girlfriend is Japanese, although not very patient when it comes to helping me out so I tend to spend most of my time confused

I'm trying to learn Japanese as a way of communicating with her, her (our) friends, her parents and hopefully one day our kids!

Please feel free to point me in the right direction when I make mistakes, we're all here to learn, whatever our level.

Yup, thats the one. Does it seem like deja vu? I guess the real problem is that her English is really good, lets say, 8/10 whereas my Japanese is probably 1.5/10 or 2/10 on a good day. This basically means that she asks me to translate once a month and I ask her to translate 5 times a night lol! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to have JREF as my Nihongo Mistress (just don't tell my girlfriend)!!!!

Well kind of. We do communicate quite a bit in Japanese but it tends to be the same stuff week in week out. It doesn't really move on. Perhaps thats my fault tho for not letting her know my current level if you know what I mean.
