Grammatical help

Sorry, I'm in need of a little help.

Would anybody happen to know how to say, "I'm sorry for.../I apologize for..." in Japanese?

I'm rather stumped on the matter. I would appreciate it whole-heartedly if someone could help me on this grammatical dilemna.

It would also be very appreciated if someone were to use examples on how the "I'm sorry for"-tag could be used in a simple sentence.

I suppose "[ ]te-form gomennasai" or "[ ] te-form sumimasen" could be used as "Sorry for ...."

example,
"osoku henji shite gomennasai" which means, "I'm sorry for replying late"

As for "I apologize for...", umm.. maybe someone can help on this?

This is perfectly fine, although in this case you'd probably want to make it "sumimasen deshita" (I'm really sorry for my late reply) which may truly have been an inconvenience rather than just excuse me that might be more appropriate for brushing against someone on the subway.

If it is a noun, like "excuse my language" you can simply say "kotoba wo gomennasai/sumimasen." Plus, there are more informal ways for verbs, you can use "apologize" as opposed to just "I'm sorry" or "excuse me"....what is it you're trying to say exactly?
