Going to apply for Kyushu University

Hi all.

I am going to apply for a doctoral course in Kyushu University next year (the course would be design strategy). I have already been introduced to the head professor of that department and the inital "sollicitations" went well. Long story short; he found my research plans to be interesting enough to be part of his lab. Which is a good thing. I think.

Anyway, for that reason I am going to apply at Kyushu University next year. The 1st of March the entrance exams will start. On top of that, I will need to do a presentation (the presentation being something like a measure of my character, from what I could understand).

However, there is one problem; I have absolutely no idea what this entrance exam entails. Did anyone here apply for the Kyushu University and can tell me more about this whole entrance exam? I have been out of the theory for quite the while now (since my schools in the Netherlands were mostly art and design based and only had very little to do with theory), so I am rather worried.

They often use the term "exam" quite loosely, my "exam" for Japanese university was a timed essay (more to test my ability to write a coherently in Japanese at a decent speed than about the subject matter of the course I was applying to) and an interview.

Hey, if I remember correctly, Kyushu University posted some previous entrance exams for master's courses online on the Japanese website. For Doctoral courses, I have no idea. I would agree with A7mouse and say it is rather a way of testing your Japanese skills. It should be some kind of essay like questions. On the subject, I think the best person to ask would be the professor you're going to study with. He or she will most likely be composing the exam as well as correcting it.
