Getting Into Japan

Hey guys,
I'm leaving for japan in 7 days! Now, just a question, I've read that for Japan, you need a certain amount of money and proof that you have a place to stay, just to get into the country, is this true? Also, what do I do for the alien registration card? Thanks guys

Didn't you have to prove you had a certain amount of money when you applied for your visa? As for the place to stay thing, when I was coming into Japan they did ask me to write the address of where I was going to stay, didn't know it then, and still got through. Alien registration card, just go down to your local ward office and register for one if you're going to stay more than 3 months. Hope you have a friend that can speak Japanese.

yeah for the visa we needed to prove that we had 2500, do we need 2500 by the time we arrive at the airport? I have the adress, so that works, and the guy we're renting the flat from speaks japanese primarily and english as a second language so I'm sure his presence will be invaluable!

what if you're trying to move into the country from the US? is that hard?

As long as you have the visa and a place to stay and some cash I don't see anything you need to worry about. Unless you can't get anyone to help you get a alien registration card, but then it just a matter of how well you can communicate without actually talking. =)

If you want to move into Japan from the US go get an English teaching job. =) Seems like the easiest way to do it.

Make sure you have a visa BEFORE going, changing from a tourist to working can be a headache at times

well I'm moving from Canada, I have my working holiday visa and a place to stay (From reading, it seems like getting a flat is harder than securing a job) so I'm just wondering about the entry requirements but I think I should be ok
