According to JR Kyushu Jet Ferry Inc., the high-speed ferry services connecting Hakata and Busan, South Korea, will resume on 4 November.

Queen Beetle ferry

The regular route connecting the two countries has been suspended since March 2020 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The company announced on Oct. 26 that the service will resume on weekends only during November. A new-type ferry, dubbed the "Queen Beetle," with a capacity of 502 passengers, was built in Australia and was delivered to Hakata Port in the fall of 2020. While the Hakata-Busan service was suspended, the company ran the vessel in local waters. The ferry has been used as a pleasure boat in Fukuoka Bay and between Hakata and Moji in Kita-Kyushu. The company intends to cancel this domestic service while seeing the circumstances of the Busan route.
