Ok, I need advice on the ferry crossing from Busan to either Fukuoka and if its possible or not to get to Okinawa from Busan by ferry.
Also why is it that the slow ferry takes 13 hours, but the fast ferry takes only 3 hours? Where does the slow ferry go that the fast one doesnt go? I have heard of an hour or two difference, but 10 hours? Sounds ridiculous and I want to know why!
I dont get sea sick, so am not worried about the conditions of the sea or anything like that.
Once arriving at the port in Fukuoka, is it easy and close enough to get into 'town' or something resembling such? Im not in need of accomodation, but am curious as to whether I should bring a lot of money for transportation or not.
Im not a stickler for comfort or any fancy trimmings, as long as the ferry doesnt sink ☝

I cant wait to eat Japanese Ramen again!!!!
Would $200US be enough for four days there?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Kara_Nari

Yes, I understand that its a hydrofoil and it goes faster, however I dont see the reason why it would take 10 hours off the trip.
I thank you for your reply however.

Have you ever traveled by boat? It's not that fast. Not to mention that you must travel in shipping lanes, on occasion travel around bad weather, and the max speed is much slower than an airplane.

It takes about 10 hours off the trip because it averages a speed something like 4 times faster than a regular ferry. Otherwise, what's the point of a hydrofoil? This is akin to wondering why a Boeing 747 can fly somewhere faster than a Cessna 150.

To clarify:

Don't focus on the hugeness of the 10 hour difference, look instead at the proportional relation of the two times. The hydrofoil makes the trip in about 1/4 of the time because it is about 4 times faster than a regular ferry.

Plus, speaking from personal experience of having stood radar watches in the area, the Tsushima Straits (which the ferry must travel through) are an incredibly high traffic area. The hydrofoil is more agile and therefore more adept at maneuvering in such areas.

On investigation there seem to be Hakata and a route of Pusan in various ways.
Transportation of a motorcycle was enabled from Japan to Pusan from July
I intend to try to challenge it this time.

Thanks very much guys for your help :D.. much appreciated.
Hmm im interested in the Motorcycle trip from Japan to Busan... I do wonder HOW??
Im thinking that the slow ferry could be quite fun? Or is that just me hoping that it would be in an effort to save some money haha.
I have travelled on short distance ferries before, in New Zealand and from Cambodia to Thailand, but that trip was only about 5 hours on the worlds worst ferry haha, So thats why I was amazed at the time differences, but now that the picture has been painted, I am of a more understanding nature. Sorry if I seemed a bit blunt in my last reply, really I am grateful. On that day I was in a particularly foul mood. Sorry. And Thanks :D

A voyage method to Okinawa
From Kyushu to Okinawa, a ferry goes out of Kagoshima.
There are many ships of a voyage this one.
However, it is 20 hours by going straight
It is 24 hours via Ooshima, Yorontou.

From Hakata to Kagoshima, an express bus is cheap.
One-way 5,300yen
round-trip 8,000yen

From Hakata to Kagoshima, the use of the new Sinkansen is good, too
