Last night my PC died and nothing could revive it. I put it in the shop, but have no idea if it can be saved, or when I will get it back.I hooked in tonight as a temp. hook-up to post this. Hopefully I will be back next week, but if I have to rebuild my whole system, I may be gone a while? Anyway I'll be missing you all & the Forum for a bit.

Well.....

I had planned to buy a laptop for X-Mas; so I went & got it early. Trouble is, I never used a laptop before. I have to figure how to use this one and get it set-up right. No books came with it, everything is in the laptop to read, and the print is so small. And the keyboard is a nightmare to type on, soooo small to me.I hope to hear from the repair shop tomorrow? If they get mine running again, the laptop goes to my wife to use. I wanted it just to watch DVD movies on.I'm OK with PC hardware, but not too hot about software and anything new to learn! This thing has a docking station to turn it into a desktop model, I hope to figure that all out over the weekend. Then I can hook my printer, monitor, scanner, old keyboard, and trackball up to this and make it into just a tower for a desktop like I'm used to. I also have to figure out how to make this thing work wireless, that should be a challenge.
I'm so busy reading and figuring this thing out, I can't enjoy time on my Forum yet.Worst of all, I lost my collection of moving avatars!!Miss ya all! Maybe the repair shop will call tomorrow with good news, I HOPE!!

Oh, I know what you mean about those laptops. Some people seem to do just fine with them, but they look awfully difficult to type on and very confusing without the mouse! I think I would be lost. Good luck with getting everything together, and I hope your repair shop has good news for you!! Hope you're back here soon!!!

I agree, it was very weird in the beginning when I shifted my pc for a laptop, and now I am soo used to the laptop that it is the only thing I go for!! My work means that I have to transport my laptop and take it with me, so a high tower of a pc is not recommendable....

Laptops are great....
