Non-Muslims, Japanese, Koreans are not muslims, But they are Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo Clean !

So many to the point of cracked, flaking skin though. Not to knock cleanliness and smelling fresh, but how many Muslims have atopy?

Its the middle ground one should aim for, and I guess America is there on the issue of cleanliness.

Like nahadef, I shower daily (well, I might skip on Sunday), but IMHO, I am pushing it as for as being too clean. But I guess I can say that I don't SCRUB daily. I wash gently, which means I don't come out squeeky clean, but oh well.

So anyway, I am clearly on the side of Hezam and nahadef on this, but just thought I would touch on some minor points for accuracy's sake.

Some interesting reading on clitoral hood reduction. Clitoral hood reduction - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Can't blame a woman for wanting a more attractive vagina. From that perspective one can imagine how things like that could get started and become common in a society. It may well happen to ours, and the men could become expecting vaginas to look like the one on the right and reject the one on the left.

Of course one can only hope that even if it became common, it would not become so perverted as to remove the clitoris, and other horrible things associated with FGM

There is also the fact that smegma can get in the clitoral hood and make it impossible to withdraw the hood resulting in an awful stench. This could also explain how female circumcision/fgm got its start. Smegma - Wikipedia

Clitoral hood - Wikipedia

As in the male, sticky bands of tissue called adhesions can form between the hood and the glans; these stick the hood onto the glans so the hood cannot be pulled back to expose the glans, and, as in the male, strongly scented smegma can accumulate.

Good discussion

oh dear

Really?

thats an awful thing to say - shame on you

No dude, shame on you. Every woman has her own realities to deal with, and wishful thinking won't solve problems if they have them. In no way am I suggesting rampant plastic surgery, or clitoral hood and labia reductions, but, some women greatly benefit from them just as much as a nose job or breast reconstruction surgery.

Now if you want to say that most women need none of these alterations, I could agree with that. I can't tell you how many times I have prefered the woman in her "before" picture than her "after" picture. But for those times it was the opposite, why not just admit it rather than try and sugar coat reality like a pathetic male browbeaten and cowed by feminazi screed?

Huh? What does the Koran say about soap and hygiene?

good question

Islam places great emphasis on cleanliness, in both its physical and spiritual aspects. On the physical side, Islam requires the Muslim to clean his body, his clothes, his house, and the whole community, and he is rewarded by God for doing so. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, for example:

"Removing any harm from the road is charity (that will be rewarded by Allah)." [Bukhari]

While people generally consider cleanliness a desirable attribute, Islam insists on it, making it an indispensable fundamental of the faith. A Muslim is required to be pure morally and spiritually as well as physically. Through the Qur'an and Sunnah Islam requires the sincere believer to sanitize and purify his entire way of life.

In the Qur'an Allah commends those who are accustomed to cleanliness:

"Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean." [2: 22]

In Islam the Arabic term for purity is Taharah. Books of Islamic jurisprudence often contain an entire chapter with Taharah as a heading.

Allah orders the believer to be tidy in appearance:

"Keep your clothes clean." [74:4]

The Qur'an insists that the believer maintain a constant state of purity:

"Believers! When you prepare for prayer wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows; rub your heads (with water) and (wash) your feet up to the ankles. If you are ritually impure bathe your whole body . " [5: 6]

Ritual impurity refers to that resulting from sexual release, menstruation and the first forty days after childbirth. Muslims also use water, not paper or anything else to after eliminating body wastes.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) advised the Muslims to appear neat and tidy in private and in public. Once when returning home from battle he advised his army:

"You are soon going to meet your brothers, so tidy your saddles and clothes. Be distinguished in the eyes of the people." [Abu Dawud]

On another occasion he said:

"Don't ever come with your hair and beard disheveled like a devil." [Al-Tirmidhi]

And on another:

"Had I not been afraid of overburdening my community, I would have ordered them to brush their teeth for every prayer." [Bukhari]

Moral hygiene was not ignored, either, for the Prophet (pbuh) encouraged the Muslims to make a special prayer upon seeing themselves in the mirror:

"Allah, You have endowed me with a good form; likewise bless me with an immaculate character and forbid my face from touching the Hellfire." [Ahmad]

And modesty in dress, for men as well as for women, assists one in maintaining purity of thought.

Being charitable is a way of purifying one's wealth. A Muslim who does not give charity (Sadaqah) and pay the required annual Zakah, the 2.5% alms-tax, has in effect contaminated his wealth by hoarding that which rightfully belongs to others:

"Of their wealth take alms so that you may purify and sanctify them." [9: 103]

All the laws and injunctions given by Allah and His Prophet (pbuh) are pure; on the other hand, man-made laws suffer from the impurities of human bias and other imperfections. Thus any formal law can only be truly just when it is purified by divine guidance - as elucidated by the Qur'an and the Sunnah - or if it is divinely ordained to begin with - the Shari'ah.

I don't think you understood the question (and I didn't phrase it well either, sorry).

Most of the things on the Koran are based on 8th century hygiene. We have much better hygiene in the 21st century. The soaps, sanitisers, and shampoos make most of the things written about the topic in the Koran irrelevant.

Why would people with comprehension about hygiene need to be told about it by God? Couldn't we just consider it common sense and health to be clean (as most people do) and not worry about God? I'm a very clean person, and I did it easily without the Koran.

nahadef, if i may explain it for you, The main idea is to keep your self clean by using anything that cleans the body, in Quran Allah commanded Muslims to clean themselves and that was 1400 years ago, People in that period did not care about purity as you know, And because of Islamic sharia Muslims created soaps, sanitisers, Shampoos, Toothbrush, toothpaste etc etc.
Quote from Wikipedia:
...............................
Middle East
A 12th century Islamic document describes the process of soap production.[14] It mentions the key ingredient, alkali, which later becomes crucial to modern chemistry, derived from al-qaly or "ashes".
By the 13th century, the manufacture of soap in the Islamic world had become virtually industrialized, with sources in Nablus, Fes, Damascus, and Aleppo.

This same practice was done when a priest was dedicated to God. "Thus you shall do to them to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purification on them, and let them shave all their body, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean" (Numbers 8:7).

But if you anticipate revealing more of your intimate parts - that is, if someone (like your husband) is going to see you uncovered (i.e., without underwear) -- your genital area should be shaved or at least trimmed closely.

Here's another biblical passage that addresses the issue of women shaving in the context of intimate relations: "Then you grew up, became tall and reached the age for fine ornaments; your breasts were formed and your hair had grown. Yet you were naked and bare." (Eze 16:7)

The speaker is praising the attributes of a young woman who is ready to take a husband: as she has come of age into womanhood, she has developed shapely breasts and pubic hair. But in the next verse, she is described as naked and bare. Why would she be described as both naked and bare? Because naked means without clothes, while bare means without body hair. This wording indicates she has had her body hair, including her pubic hair, shaved off.

In some cases, it's clear that the Lord has not only looked favorably on pubic shaving, but actually imposed it on His people:

...therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Jehovah will lay bare their secret parts. (Isa 3:17)

So far, we've only discussed female shaving, but males were not exempt. In Jer. 49:10, we read: "But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places..."

Shaving for Closeness

Going completely bare is a way of being more fully naked before God and before your spouse. By shaving, you are lifting the veil of pubic hair that comes between your spouse and you, and in complete trust revealing the divine creation of your genitals to your spouse's loving eyes and touch.

???? ???? ??????? ???? ??????? - YouTube

And that is why all people reading this thread are now Muslim ;)

And that is why in Islam, Judaism and Christianity
One in everything

A Clean Shave

As an added benefit for intimacy, pubic hair removal is also conducive to better genital hygiene. In the Old Testament, this was part of a purification ritual: "Have them shave their entire body and wash their clothing. Then they will be ceremonially clean." (Num 8:7)

Even if you bathe daily, body hair still captures and holds odors, which can be distracting or unpleasant during lovemaking and especially oral sex. Shaving the pubic hair or keeping it trimmed short minimizes this and keeps you fresh for intimate moments, which your spouse will appreciate.

Shaving can also be a way for a newly married woman to show her commitment to her new husband:

"And suppose you see among the captives a beautiful woman, and you are attracted to her and want to marry her. If this happens, you may take her to your home, where she must shave her hair, cut her fingernails, and change all her clothes." (Deut 21:11-13)

A freshly shaved pubic area can represent a fresh start in intimacy. Couples at any stage in their marriage can take advantage of this as a new beginning.

In keeping with maintaining a neat appearance and good hygiene habits, and out of consideration for their spouses, it seems appropriate for both Christian men and women to either shave or neatly trim their pubic hair if they desire.

Keeping this area well groomed is another way that husbands and wives can look and feel their best for each other. And by going completely hairless, they can experience an even closer degree of intimacy, with nothing to come between them as they become one flesh. If you and your spouse enjoy the look and feel of going bare, there's no need to feel a spiritual conflict.

This confirms Christians away for the actions and words of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him
Jesus (pbuh)and Muhammed (pbuh) Comparative Study by Sheikh Ahmed Deedat - YouTube

Circumcision is an initiation rite for Jewish newborn babies. This usually takes place in a ceremony called a Brit (or Bris) milah witnessed by family and community members. Milah is Hebrew for Covenant of Circumcision.

The ritual is an ancient practice that has been carried out by Jewish parents for more than 3,000 years.

Such is the importance of Brit milah that circumcision can take place on the Sabbath or a holy day even though the drawing of blood is not normally allowed on these days under Jewish law.

According to the Torah (Genesis 17: 9-14), Abraham was commanded by God to circumcise himself, all male members of his household, his descendants and slaves in an everlasting covenant.

This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your descendants after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you. He that is eight days old among you shall be circumcised; every male throughout your generations, whether born in your house, or bought with your money from any foreigner who is not of your offspring.

Under Jewish law, failure to follow the commandment given to Abraham incurs the penalty of karet (being cut off from the rest of the community of God).

The Torah (Genesis 16:14) also says: "Any uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreksin shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant."
The ceremony

There are no special rules about where the ritual should take place. Most often it is held at the family's home but some people prefer it to be done in a synagogue.

The ritual is performed by a mohel (circumciser), usually an observant Jew, on the eighth day after birth unless there are medical reasons to prevent it happening. The mohel is required to have studied the religious laws and have the surgical skills essential to the operation. In the UK, the Initiation Society of Great Britain and the London Beth Din (Jewish Ecclesiastical Court) oversee the training and examination of student mohels.

The Bris is an important family celebration for Jewish people. It is required that the father and mohel must be present but it's usual for other family members to participate too.

Traditionally, an empty chair is set aside in the room for the prophet Elijah, who oversees the proceedings and ensures the continuation of the ritual.

The child may be brought into the room where the circumcision is to take place by the mother and other female family members.

During the circumcision, the child is held on the lap of a person who has been chosen to act as sandek. The grandfather of the child or the family rabbi often takes this role and it is considered an honour to do this.

German Postal Service decided to issue a postage stamp reminds Germans that Christ underwent circumcision two thousand years ago when he was eight days old

On January, eight days after the Holy Nativity of our Lord, we celebrate His Circumcision, one of the Feasts of the Lord, on which—in accordance with Hebrew tradition—He received the name "Jesus": "And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the Child, His name was called Jesus, which was so named of the Angel before He was conceived in the womb" (St. Luke 2:21).

The stamp shows which celebrates two hundred anniversary of the German Bible Society on September 11 / September page of the New Testament describes how Christ underwent circumcision.

The stamp includes a quote from the Gospel of St. Luke stating "On the eighth day, when it's the time of circumcision, called the Christ child."
