One of the more common questions is "Where can I find a good site on ___?" where ____ might be kanji, grammar, keigo, vocabulary, pronunciation, dictionary, romaji, ... etc.

Now it isn't a really exaggerating to say that if you put together all the good online sites you could find out anything at all about the Japanese language. However unless (and sometimes even if) you are very experienced with Google it can be difficult to find a good and applicable site for any particular topic.

The Japan Directory > Language > Online Resources is a start but it could be more tightly linked to the Learning Japanese forum. It would also be good if a classification system could be developed for language resource sites and if that system could be used to filter / sort / search that directory section.

Exactly what classification system would be appropriate and whether / how a filter/sort/search system could be implemented would need to be worked out in more detail.

Thanks for your suggestions, Paul! The Japan Directory is under permanent reconstruction, so we do welcome constructive feedback. In comparison to other subsections our collection of Language links has been slightly neglected lately, I guess we should break them down into more specific subcategories.

I am not sure about how to classify the language resources listed, but it shouldn't be difficult to add a search box to the language forum that only queries language-related links.

Actually a general option to
- search all categories
- search this category
- search this category and subcategories
wouldn't be a bad idea for the advanced search page.

[this category] could be picked up as a parameter depending on where you click the advanced search link.

Actually, this search option is employed on all category pages, e.g.

=> https://jref.com/dir/Language/Language_Schools/

Take a look at the search box in the top menu, it allows you to search the entire directory or the current subcat including subsubcats. It is however not in use at the advanced search page. At least not yet, that is. ;-)

Typical. Of course I carefully checked the Advanced Search page before posting ... but never noticed the options with the standard search. :p

Incidently I made a related but mostly ignored post in the Learning Japanese forum.

[EDIT]The 'Add Review' page doesn't seem to be working - at least I get no acknowledgement that the review I've submitted has been received.

I've added my review of EigoCafe to the Learning Japanese forum thread above in this post just in case you didn't get it.
