experinces at hospital and doctor

Hi
I am a student trying to make some comparisons between the way Japanese respond to situations compared to the Western way.
I am interested in experiences around university, going to the doctor, and being in a hospital.
does anyone know if there are significant differences in ow people are in these situations.
for expamle here , the relationship with a doctor is more of a peer relationship - patients often challange doctors advice - or do not comply.
what is it like in Japan??
any input/stories /opinions are greatly appreciated!!
