Entering 'ee' sounds in katakana, keystroke order?

I have a simple question.
For some reason I cannot for the life of me figure out how to cleanly enter these combinations.

ティ
ディ

If I want フォ （fo） I just enter fo.
If I want dei or tei though I can't just enter those. Tei comes out as テイ。

What's the trick?

Oh yes, I had the same kind of trouble when I was learning romaji-kana henkan.

Adding to the answers already here, li or xi should also get you the small katakana. Also works for っ (xtu) and ょ (xyo).
