that... certanly IS a lot...

it;s not that i don't like anythng else... its just that i wouldn;t go outta my way to get their stuff... nor would i really chose to take up my hard drive with their music files... i have thoese bands on here (except k's choice... i have pretty much every single song of there's on cd)... and then some randme other ones... but that's it.
it just bored me a bit to listen to that stuff now.. it all kinda sounds 'samey'

Since listening to Japanese music i've had many rebounds. It's truely refreshing to listen to non-Japanese music once in a while. Couldn't live without Japanese music though. Found too many gems in that scene (and still discovering).

It's best to keep a good mix of both Japenese and non-Japanese music. Helps you stay in touch.

But what comes to English music...I used to listen to Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Prince, Eminem, Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, Xzibit, Tupac,Marilyn Manson, usually rap and hip hop, not at all mainstream pop, I hate it.
In fall I started listening to Linkin Park...then switched to jrock...and everything else disappeared for a while 0.0 Then I discovered Björk.
Now I have started to listen to my "old" favourites again, but jrock is addictive! I think that I'll be listening both English and Japanese music from now on, but who knows what band will be my next discovery...

hee hee, waw! that's really cool. yeah, i love nightwish... whent to go see them while they were touring over here, they're deff my type'a thing.

i understand about the addictivness completely, it's deffinatly somethng taht once you've grabed a liking to, it's really hard not to get more and more into it.

deffinatly, i mean, i usually end up singin along to jrock anyway, but it;s nice to be 100% sure you know what the song's about and what the words are sometimes *lives to sing*
but i think having the majoritory of my playlist as jrock is good, because then it makes the stuff in english less dull and borring... which is what it was really starting to do before i found jrock... i was going into a whole load of under ground music, finding stuff that really had it's own sound... i haven't been able to talk about the music i like for e a realy long time now, lol...

Norwegian punk is a lot like swedish punk. Political, a bit old-school punk-like, and a bit of rock. Not at all like american skate punk (yack *shudders*). Lyrics in norwegian. Too bad though, most underground norwegian hard rock bands nowadays play hardcore. I'm kind of bored with it, 'cos it all sounds the same...

By the way, my japanese dictionary says karu(kari; kara;kat-te) cut; reap; crop; mow.

ahh, yeah, that's what's good... sate puck smells butt... good old school brit punk's great. so i'm sure norwegian stuff is too. i whent there once, to voss, whent skiing with school. such a prudie country. didn;t here much of the language beeing spoken tho...
but i love stuff as long as the music and composition of it's great... i don;t like german as a language, but i'll still lstine to their music if it's good *nods*

I'm curious - so exactly *what* do you sing? :?

I used to have singing lessons, for a couple of years... I think it was useful... I got able to sing a bit higher lol :sing: I have really alto voice so... I miss the lessons but since I left shelter of family home I can't afford it any more ......... Not to mention the fact that I have 2 sets of terraced neighbours... and a loud voice...

I don't understand how anyone could like the White Stripes

They boring as hell. I swear they make me want to stab my eardrums with chopsticks. The guitarist isn't too terrible but the drummer... Well lets just say I've never touched a drumset in my life and I know for a fact I could play better. I believe the term I am thinking of is a "critic band" to describe them (I think that's the term). Maybe it's the lack of bass that makes me despise them. I just find to be highly overrated and don't deserve the credit they get for the crap they produce... what's the point of music if there is no quality to it.

I guess for me it was initially the "exotic" factor, but then I just began enjoying the music a whole lot more than anything I've heard in English.]

However, I still like some stuff in English, such as My Chemical Romance, System of a Down, Spineshank, Green Day, The Killers... then there is all of that stuff that has no words, like classical music and some trance, techno, industrial, ebm, etc.

You know, when i started out listening to Japanese music i went all the way and nearly forgot about non-Japanese music. Over time i started to miss it though and realized how much i actually loved it.
Nowadays i don't see Japanese and non-Japanese music as two different scenes. There's only music i like and music i don't, no matter where it comes from.

I actually also noticed the drummer tends to go off beat. The White Stripes is actually better than a lot of this bulls--- mainstream produced in America these days. Their music waves more torwards blues, and actually a LOT of their songs have bass in it. What songs of theirs have you really heard? Because you honestly can't judge them until you hear every one of their songs, as nearly all of them are different. But of course, if you like rap that last sentence would be extremely laughable.

I haven't heard every single song and never intend to. To put myself through such torture would be cruel and unusual. I hate the "mainstream bullsh*t" your refering too. I don't even bother with American music anymore.

I absolutely despise rap for the record. It's talking/rhyming to a beat... I can do that for heaven's sake.

Hehe, I fully agree with you there. Surprisingly in some songs she (!? I didn't know it was a girl ) she does stay on beat though.. Is she the girl the lead singer likes? Because..that's probably why she's still the drummer .:x

me? heh i sing everything ^^; hate and despise my voice, but admit that i can sing...
never had lessons... tho my choir master whants me to so i can get grade 8 and have it help me get into uni.... bleh... i can't read music, i do everything by ear.
i'm an alto, but they make me sing first suprano a lot *cries*
i was reffering to general choristor music... choire practice on a friday, evening psalms on a monday ^^;

heh... i can be REALLY loud.... but i hardly ever am because... yeah i hate my voice >.<

w00t! so true... never liked them... find them dull and repetitive.
yeah i'm pretty sure they are brother and sister.
and, yeah... what's the deal with no bass? bass is the essence of a band!
his voice kinda anoys me, tho i will admit they do some catchy riffs... wheter that's a good thing or not....

other band's i'm afraied i really disslike would be greenday... granted i do sometimes sing along... but i also sing along to briteney spears and westlife (right before i go gouge my vocal chords out with a spoon).
i guess i can >kinda< understand why p[eople like tham... but... me... i've really never...

sorry, i just had to put that there... most of my friends adore greenday, so i have nothing major against them... i've just never seen what's so great about them...
