is the God like icon and he eats and drinks ???
as I know God is more sensual things to eat and drink ....
the thing that makes me say that is when I went to Japan for 15 days and it's like schoolship,
they took us to church and there is icon and they said , walk inside your god !!!!
the Buddhists put fruits to their God( the icon) and after half of hour they carried it and said to us he ate the fruits, and we said how did the God eat the fruits and still as it is and we can see it ?
the Buddhists said that the God ate them spiritually .....
I know every one has different thought about God , but is that possible to say God eat and drink ?
how we call him like God and we care of him and we feed him ??
we are in the twenty-one century and there are like those people who think like that ?
can we call that ignorance ? and the important question, does God eat and drink ??

It depends on how you belive in God,Like in Christianity,Jesus (god bless and peace upon him) is God so Yes he eats,(what do you mean by drink ? is it Alcoholic ? ).But Allah doesnt eat.

In Islam,We belive in Allah as the one God and we belive he doesnt eat or drink or sleep,also he doesnt need to what the human need.and not only Allah who doesnt eat,we belive that the Angels dont eat or sleep...

we should not force people to belive in what we belive but what we should do is to explain it to them.

I agree with your idea but we can't say that if he eats so he's exist, why ? so how about feeling ?
we can't see the feelings of hate, love or any kind of feelings but they're exist..... and we can't put rule and except other, so we can't see or touch the feelings but we feel in them and we feel with their existence. so God we can't see him but we can feel with his existence obviously and no one can ignore that ......

as I study before, some islamic group explain what was written in qur'an about God's adjectives , the qur'an mentions to us in some islamic's verses , hand , god can see us , hear us ......
they explain that it's real features but not like human knows or images ......
and angels don't sleep and eat and drink , they just do what god ask them to do ....

I think something got lost in translation, but I'm not really sure by what you mean when you say, "if he eats so he's exist." I didn't say if God eats that means he exists. All I said that if a God existed.

True, we can't see feelings, but we can't see electrons either. However, we can test them and know they are there. In case you didn't know, your emotions are controlled by chemicals in your brain. That's how anti-depressants work, they help release dopamine, a chemical that is responsible for happiness. So even though we can't "see" them, we can test them and know where they come from.

Maybe we can't see God, just like we can't see emotions or electrons, but we can't test for his existence, either. By definition God is supernatural. You cannot make observations of something that is outside of the observable world. And, just as a little note, I don't feel God's existence.

No offence, but any kind of belief in god seems just as ignorant to me as the idea that gods eat and drink. Another example comes from the opposite angle - how do we explain something that we know to have happened. If I wake up and see a puddle under my window, how do I explain it? Do I look for explanations that are understood perfectly well by science, such as I left the window open and it rained, or my radiator leaked, or do I assume that a fairy came and put it there? Even if I can't find a suitable explanation - the window is closed and the radiator seems fine - do I invoke a fairy visitor? No, I look harder for a leak.

There are still some things that science doesn't understand, so we should look harder for sensible explanations rather than invoke a fairy tale.

Well, if you believe that God exists, you have to also believe that is possible for him* to eat and drink IF he chose to do so for whatever reason.

However, you can't also believe that God needs to eat and drink.

Essentially, if you believe in God you must also believe that he is all-powerful, and therefore does not need food and drink but could consume it if he wished to do so... if you don't believe God is all-powerful, well, it's not really God you're talking about, is it? @_@

The debate is separate to a discussion about whether God exists or not, since it is assuming that the OP believes in the existence of a God, and it's just the eating/drinking thing that's in question.

I don't think people seriously give offerings to a God or Gods because they think it's needed for sustenance - isn't it more just an expression of goodwill i.e. giving something that's valuable e.g. food?

(*I'm using the term 'him' to refer to God because it's quicker than writing 'he/she/it' every time, not because I believe that God is male!)
