Doc film on hostessing

I think Filipinas have a bad reputation in Japan, but not because of hostessing, but rather disguised prostitution in soaplands or massage parlours, while the real hostessing jobs are left to the Japanese (Japanese men need women who can entertain them and laugh at their stories, and for this one needs to speak Japanese very well, so few foreigners in hostessing, apart from places like Roppongi or Kabukicho).

Many Filipinas (or Russian women) also marry much older or ugly Japanese men who can't marry a Japanese and are rich enough to support them (and sometimes their familiy in their country). That is seen as another form of prostitution, which adds up to their reputation (as well as most SE Asian and Chinese women, but especially Filipinas).

The Filipinas that I've run into (very few btw) were all prostitutes. I've heard that Yakuza will 'import' Filipinas on short term visas. When the visas expire, the Yakuza will hide them and make them work as prostitutes. They work as prostitutes to repay the Yakuza for helping them out.

Hehe -- I won't, but I know quite a few girls that hostess, and got a paycheck furikomi'ed to their bank account and everything.

Yeah -- always relatively close to the center. Meidaimae for 3 years, Ikejiri Oohashi for 3 years, and then Shibuya for 1.

explaining the fine system for bicycles and motorbikes that have to be carried away (this actually differ from ward to ward). And just in front of these notices, there are always dozens of bicycles parked.

LOL.. yeah, there's one building (Ark Mori) where I used to work that had the signs out there. People would respect that one, but on the corner where there was...well... nothing... there were more signs, next to a row of bicycles and scooters.

You've got to admit that even if that rule was strictly enforced it's a small payoff. You can do just about anything on a bicycle and not get in trouble. Streets, sidewalks, red lights.. the works!

I've tweaked my approach to this doc project a bit. originally i wanted to document my experience as a hostess, but at this point i'd like to do some further investigation into the recruitment process of filipina women to japan, both on the philippines side and the japanese side. Thought I'd throw this out there, would like to get your thoughts on what's been floating around in my head over the last little while...

-- I've heard this as well. I've been trying to keep up with the news on the new restrictions to Japan's entertainment visa -- they hope the new restrictions might alleviate trafficking into the sex trade. I've read that the restrictions are a big blow for the Philippine government even with the FTA in place. I doubt the changes will necessarily improve the working conditions for many filipinas since it doesn't address the larger ring of crime syndicates (like the yakuza)...

Well, I think in general, most wester people are a lot better off than people in other countries. Sure, there are under-priviledged families in the states and whatnot, but I think the whole situation is a very interesting package. China, Phillipines, Russia are all very close Japan, and have a very large poor population. There are people that are already coming into the country for work... so it would make sense for them to come for illegal work. As the US and other western countries are the "consumers" of such an industry, it doesn't make sense for their citizens to go elsewhere... they can stay at home and do such things.

The Tokyo Classified a while back (a long while back... like 4-5 years ago) did a special on a girl that was getting into the escort service. She was flat out told that sex was included in every package. They did another one, talking to a girl that had basically been kidnapped, and forced to work as a prostitute... a usual story. Poor Russian girl that needed to make money to send home.

i was a hostess in a roppongi club in 1998. i worked for a little over a month and made good money. the clubs vary in how you earn your money and some are sketchier than others. i have heard horror stories from girls that went through agencies. i simply went out to a few clubs to ask if they were hiring and after looking at me and my passport was hired. i am considering going back to tokyo in a few months to earn money. i am a photographer and thinking of putting together a photo docu. let me know if i can answer any questions

I would like some info on checking out hostessing websites or anyone who can give me some advise. Do you know if they discriminate against a hispanic female who wants to be a hostess?
