Do many Japanese girls fall in love in USA with ESL classmates?

just wondering about this. It came to me because one latino guy i know is going to ESL class here in USA and of course he has classmates from japan, china, europe, etc. He recently is having a relationship with a girl from Spain. And i've seen other latinos or foreigners from europe that also get into relationships with Japanese girls. Aside from Japanese, girl.. I often hear about guys who fall in love with classmates, then they start a relationship and even quit school because they get serious to the point of marriage.

Is ESL and schools in USA like a dating place for Japanese girls/and for foreigners? Maybe they are easily lured into relationships by these foreign guys for some reason.

What do you guys think?

I have been in and closely connected with ESL programs in the USA as well as EFL programs--to a much less extent. From that experience, I would answer that there is no 'conspiracy' by the university systems that would be of the 'dating source' or 'hook-up' type.

It is true, however, that the age, the circumstances, and all the little workings of nature are there to make relationships happen, The ESL programs are usually slightly detached, in a way, from the main school, and thus the area of movement and interaction between students in the programs is usually only between and among students of that same program.

This could be said to be fertile soil for whatever relationships that develop--which would have likely developed anyway, anywhere due to those above points--to develope only within those participating in the program.

I got into a relationship with a Japanese girl in an ESL program. Another Japanese girl there was in a relationship with a fellow student from Korea, and yet one more Japanese girl ended up marrying a university student who she met through the ESL's 'open house' culture sharing 'festival,' and a few Japanese girls were in relationships with Japanese boys. Among some 35 or so Japanese students in the program, it was not above average for the age, I'd think.

By the way, i lost one of the best Japanese penpals( female) i ever had because she fell in love with a korean guy in her ESL class...and lost interest in penpaling. : )

Please do note that the word 'many' in your first post is the part which is not correct, per se. 'Some' would be more correct--where more tends to show a relative overall average.

But yes, it does happen that young folks fall in love, and that young folks have relationships with other young folks that they meet--and of course, it's not a natural phenomenon to only young folks.

My best friend met her boyfriend when she was taking ESL. Aside from them i never really saw anyone hook-up in ESL.

Pinson, you don't need to be an ESL student to hook up with a Japanese girl. I met my girlfriend of several years while she was enrolled in the ESL program at my university and I was enrolled in typical courses. We met at a party for international students (this was a few months before I began a study abroad in Japan, so I went to make friends). I made other friends there too, many of which I still keep in contact with. So there are other ways to meet Japanese people! You just need a little confidence and don't work yourself up to think that you're seeking out Japanese JUST because they're Japanese, but that you're making friends like you would with anyone else.
