Well I asked a girl from school out for a meal with me and she accepted. Anyone who's had experience dating someone who it is difficult to communicate with please post your stories or tips. I'd also love to learn some nice things to say to her on the date in Japanese that won't offend. I really like her so I don't want to cut my chances here by doing something wrong. Oh yeah, she's like the best karate girl in Hokkaido so if i offend her I'm basically dead.

i remember the first time i met my girlfriend, she could barely speak english and it was difficult to hear what she said, i just smiled and did my best to be polite, you know the saying...actions speak louder then words. just be a gentleman!

My First Date With Yoshiko......
started out with her 4 friends as chaperones. I took a small J/E&E/J dictionary tucked in my back pocket. I got them all talking about the animal sounds differences (bow wow vs. Wan wan) etc. and we had a laughingly good time. It broke the ice. Good luck, if it's ment to be, it will happen.

alot of Japanese culture is very implied even the language so just be a gentleman and take the english, japanese dictionary it really helps. I recommend the lonely planet Japanese phrasebook because it is polite but is still conversational and covers most topics
