Hi guys,
Sorry for not writing in kana but I have just a quick question about days of the week.
In something I'm reading it states:

Nichiyoubi no kinou.

Which looks like Sunday's yesterday? Which is Saturday.

Is that usual?

That's "apposition の". 日曜日[にちようび] and 昨日[きのう] are in apposition; "yesterday, i.e. Sunday". 昨日の日曜日 also can be used as the same meaning.

That seems to be a strange way to say yesterday. So if it stated "asatte no nichiyoubi" that would just be "Sunday the day before yesterday"

It isn't saying "yesterday". It is saying "yesterday, which was Sunday".

"Asatte" isn't "the day before yesterday".
