Current fads/fashions in Japan?
I'm doing a presentation on fads and fashions in Japan for my Sociology class. However..umm I have no idea where to start looking for information- Can anyone tell me what some current trends in society (like major news stories that I can talk about that are interesting), fashion, entertainment- (music, TV, movies, video games,tech.etc.), sayings or idols that are big in Japan right now? Or websites I can go to?
Anything would help

Well many Japanese girls I talk to over MIXI like American casual brands, like Ralph Lauren, American Eagle, even Hollister.

It's surprising for me looking at an Abercrombie and Fitch jeans at over $250 in Japan. I mean, they are cool, but definitely not 'all that'. But what really caught my eye was an American Eagly t-shirt at ツ??,000. The same that in America would cost you 15 dollars, no joke. And people actually buy it, lol.

Wow I had no idea it was such a mark up! I would think there was a way to order internationally and beat the system so to speak?

I guess that explains why I see so many Japanese people in Coach, LV, etc stores. one of my penpals was really jealous that Ralph Lauren polo shirts only cost ~3000 yen in America too...
