Poor Kamiyama! Somehow he has been enrolled in Cromartie High School, the infamous school for delinquents. When your classmates are the meanest, toughest (and often dumbest) students around, you do what you can to fit in. But when you add a 400-pound gorilla, a robot with an attitude, and a macho brute that bears a striking resemblance to a world famous celebrity, it makes blending much more difficult.

This is good series... its very weird, in a funny way.
 
I believe Cromartie is pursuing legal action against the producers.
 
What? Do you mean ADV films or the Japanese Producers. Or the real school in real life?
 
That anime is really, interesting....I've seen two episodes and it was completely all over the place. Good stuff though.

Ex-Giants' Slugger Cromartie Reaches Agreement with Producers Over Film Using His Name

Former Yomiuri Giants star outfielder Warren Cromartie has dropped a plea to stop the release of a movie using his name in the title (Pioneer! Cromartie High School) after the distributor agreed to run an announcement in the film that says the names appearing in the movie are fictional.

Cromartie had asked the Tokyo District Court to halt the release of the movie, Sakigake, Kuromati Koko (Pioneer! Cromartie High School, The Movie), saying that the use of his name in the movie, which deals with bad boys, would damage his reputation.

But Cromartie, 51, withdrew the request after he reached a settlement with the movie's distributor, Tokyo-based Media Suits, on Friday. Media Suits promised to insert a caption in the movie, which says the names of the people and schools that appear in the movie are all fictional and are not connected to actual people or organizations.

The movie is an adaptation of the comic with the same title.

Cromartie's lawyer suggested that the former star player could file a lawsuit in a bid to have his name removed from the title of the movie and the comic.

Sakigake, Kuromati Koko will be released on July 23rd in Japan.

Cromartie High School is on cable "on Demand" - where I discovered it & just got a dvd from netflix. I think it's hilarious, esp the bully who secretly wants to be a comedian! If anyone knows of other good funny anime, let me know. I find Japanese comedy interesting, though I'm just beginning to discover it.

My mother's maiden name is Cromarty. Where do they get the name from for this series? What is it in reference to?
 
It's the name of a famous sports player, baseball I think. I was just reading about that. He was going to sue or something because he didn't want his name connected with it, but they settled it. All the high schools in the series were named after a famous baseball player I think. But I can't remember the details of the article I read.

Wow Hiroyuki you know so much. I had no idea there were so many high schools in "Cromartie High School." The first thing I thought was - 'Cromartie' is a strange name for a Japanese school tho, lol. Now I know why.

Stupid Anime Network...THEY DON'T UPDATE NEARLY FAST ENOUGH!
 
Oh yeah I know - you have to wait ages for the next 2 episodes. I got the DVD at Netflix because I got tired of waiting.

That's strange it does not exist and yet....there is a photo of the real high school there! I don't think my brain can handle this conflicting information. I must jump out the window now....
